It’s really hard to be a true Nokia fan in the USA since most carriers don’t seem to care about Nokia’s latest phones, not to mention its services. After we’ve seen the N97 disregarded by everyone in the phone business we know hear that Nokia’s music service, Comes with Music, has been pushed back to 2010. Maybe the U.S. market is not ready for another free DRM music service or maybe Nokia is not ready to support the costs given its current foothold in the USA. Nokia hasn’t specified when Comes with Music will be launched but I guess you won’t miss it all that much. After all there’s always iTunes or even Amazon ready to satisfy your music needs.

iPod lovers everywhere must have really loved yesterday’s official announcement at Macworld. Apple has negotiated with the top names in the music business to make DRM-free iTunes possible. But hey, what do you know, there’s a twist.
It looks like only Apple customers in the U.S. will enjoy those DRM-free tracks from iTunes. Other countries are reporting that their iTunes music is still locked into place. Well Apple what do you have to say for yourself? Did you forget to announce the fact that only U.S. customer will be able to enjoy the changes? I mean shouldn’t everyone everywhere get those DRM-free tracks? Especially now that 3G downloads are possible!

People say Apple has decided to drop DRM from iTunes Music, which is great news. We have been really looking forward to this and Apple executives have decided to close the deal at the beginning of this year. While Apple hasn’t announced it officially yet we’re counting on it to do so in the following days.
Older songs will cost now just $0.79 but new songs might be more expensive than the regular $0.99. You could expect a whole dollar to be added to that price. But hey, we’re going to have DRM-free music which is really cool. On top of that people say that Apple will allow us to get music downloads over the 3G air. We will get back to you when the official announcement has been made. Until then we’ll just cross our fingers hoping that nothing will go wrong in the mean time.

RIM seems to be working hard this year. Besides the Storm launch we’ve received news that the company is creating Berries ready for LTE and now we find out that it’s also preparing to launch a whole new music streaming service based on Didiom.
Didiom is a music marketplace which will get you on-device downloads and tracks streaming from your iTunes library to your handset. Didiom tracks cost $0.89 and albums cost $9.99. Nothing particular you say right? All files are DRM-free MP3s but we don’t know yet when everything will be ready for action.

By now you should already be aware of the official existence of the G1 handset from T-Mobile. It’s the main event of this September 23rd and we’re going to be talking about it for quite a while.
One of the features presented at today’s even was Amazon’s music store. The application will come preloaded on the G1. You will be able to search your music, buy it and download it to your G1 to listen to it later. Kind of like an iTunes store but from Amazon, and with no Genius on. (more…)
