We have some good news for all those Canadians ready to get a new data plan from Rogers Wireless. There’s a catch however. You will have to get an Android-powered handset and the 6GB data plan is all yours. The new plan will cost you $30 per month but it’s certainly worth it. The HTC Dream or the Magic will be available on June 2nd from Roger Wireless so you won’t be waiting that long.

Okay so maybe the following handsets are not the all the phones Rogers Wireless will launch this summer but they will surely be among the most popular: the LG Rumor 2, Sony Ericsson C905 and Xperia X1, HTC Dream and Magic and the new iPhone. Here they are:

  • LG Rumor 2 (Solo Mobile) — ETA: May 25th, outright: $160.00, 2-year contract: $75.00
  • Sony Ericsson C905 — ETA: May 19th (delayed), outright: $449.99, 3-year contract: $249.99 ($299.99 without Rogers Vision)
  • HTC Dream — ETA: June 2nd (limited quantity, availability will increase by June 12th), outright: $649.99, 3-year contract: $199.99
  • HTC Magic — ETA: June 2nd, outright: $649.99, 3-year contract: $199.99
  • Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 — ETA: June 30th (barring additional delays), outright: TBD ($649 - $749), 3-year: $299.99 (will launch at $249.99)
  • iPhone — ETA: unknown (July/August), outright: not allowed, 3-year: TBD

Unfortunately there’s no clear indication as when will the new iPhone arrive. Rogers will probably launch it around the same time the AT&T will for a similar price. What phone would you choose?

The Dream is about to be launched in France and Orange is the designated carrier. Starting March 5 the Dream will be available for €99 when purchased with a 2-year contract and the Origami Star Plus plan.

Do you actually fantasize aboutOrange offering you the HTC Magic instead? What if I told you Vodafone was bringing the Magic in France soon? Which HTC Android phone would you choose?

The Dream is going to Australia and Optus is waiting to deliver it to you. People say that the first ever Android device will be available in Australia is going to arrive on February 16, on plans starting at about $38 per month. The Dream is available in Europe already so it might be a good idea to spread it around the world before other makers start showing off their Android handsets.

The phone in the picture here is supposed to be the Dream G200i, another Android phone. It comes with a 2.8 inch Smart Touch touchscreen display with a 320 x 240 resolution, Bluetooth connectivity, a 4 megapixel camera and support for playing lots of video and music files: MP3 / WAV / WMA / AVI / ASF / WMV / MP4 / 3GP. It measures 107.2 × 56 x 11.8mm and it weighs 110g. And now I am going to tell you what’s missing and you’re not going to like it. There’s no 3G and there’s no word of WiFi connectivity yet. We’re waiting for more details about this one, but we wouldn’t pay $235 for it if there’s no 3G support even if it’s running on Android.

The G1 is going places! After being announced for the American and UK market, the phone will make it’s way to China. HTC will take the G1 to the Asian and Pacific markets and China will see it by July 2009. We’d be curious to see if the G1 gets the same treatment the iPhone got. HTC doesn’t have an official confirmation of a G1 smartphone specifically designed for the Chinese market but I’m sure they’d love to get there before Apple does.

  • Well well T-Mobile, you sure have an Amazon store ready for your future customers. There are 6 million DRM-free songs available which is quite nice. But how are we to listen to it? It’s been reported that there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack available.

So who’s fault is it? T-Mobile’s? Google’s? Well last time I checked, the manufacturer was HTC. It seems that’s an old problem with the HTC. They tend to forget about the music jack in their models. The Touch HD is the only exception so far.

That means you should buy an USB dongle to mediate a connection between your faithful headphones and the G1. And the adapter won’t arrive by the time the G1 gets released.

Do you think Amazon should be a little pissed off by all this? I mean they will be loosing some money for a while right? Why buy songs you can’t listen to anyway?

The G1 was finally announced today. We’ve been waiting for quite a while for it to appear. Now when we’ve heard and seen more we can definitely say this might be the iPhone competitor we’ve been waiting for.

In just a month you will be able to snag one for yourself. A two-year agreement gets you a $179. In November the device will arrive in Europe with Germany, Austria and the Netherlands to be one of the first countries to offer it.

With a bit of snooping around T-Mobile’s G1 site, users of the Android Community were able to unearth some official pictures of the upcoming Android-powered, T-Mobile-driven G1. As we already told you, the G1 will be officially unveiled later today and understanding your insatiable appetite to know everything about Android, we thought we could let you in on a sneak peek before the big bang. This actually confirms that the picture we saw last month was indeed the G1 or Dream if you will, and may very well mean that the rumored specs might also hold some water. Still, we are only hours away from the official announcement, so let’s wait and see how much of what we already know about Google’s first device is confirmed. (more…)

Tuesday T-Mobile is going to officially reveal the HTC Dream aka G1 as the first Android phone. In the mean time the Google phone was shown on T-Mobile’s Site. Go to http://my.t-mobile.com and you might still find it. Some people say the link itself has been taken down while other report that clicking on the G1 will get you nowhere for now.

Probably T-Mobile is experimenting in order to be ready to properly launch the device on September 23rd.

    HTC Dream Pictures and Prices

HTC’s first Android device, the Dream has been widely discussed these last couple of weeks. While we’re still waiting to see if a September release will be possible, we got more pictures and details of the upcoming device.

What do you think about the image above? Does it look real enough to you? Is it extremely photoshopped? We sure need more details than that.

But there are rumored pricing options for the HTC Dream. A new customer choosing a 2 year contract will get the phone for $199.99. A new customer choosing a 1 year contract will pay $249.99. A full upgrade with a 2 year contract will cost $217.99 while a 1 year contract will cost $267.99. A partial upgrade will get you the handset for $367.99.

If you pre-order a full upgrade with a 2 year contract you will pay $167.99 while a pre-order with only 1 year will cost you $217.99. A pre-order with a partial upgrade gets you the phone for $317.99. If you want to pay the full $399 you will get the phone without a contract.

    But these are just rumors
