The iPod nano in the picture here is the Elton John special edition. Each iPod has 250 color-coordinated Swarovski cyrstals embedded in the case. As you might have already guessed, these iPods are pretty expensive, but 12,5% of what you’ll be paying will be donated to Elton John’s AIDS Foundation. That’s $45 out of $565 for every 8GB iPod nano or $51 out of $640 for the 16GB version. Each iPod will come with Elton John’s Rocket Man: The Definitive Hits CD pre-installed.

The LG Pink Flare in the picture here isn’t a phone made for Valentine’s. Well, it can be, but it’s main purpose is to help us fight breast cancer. With every purchase $5 will be donated to Susan G. Koman for the Cure, which is the largest breast cancer organization in the world. The phone will be available from Virgin Mobile in the U.S., and the carrier will donate at least $150,000 to the Cure.
The LG Pink Flare is a simple clamshell phone which won’t surprise you with extravagant features. It’s so cheap that you could actually purchase one just for the sake of donating those $5. The Pink Flare will be available at Best Buy only for $29.99.

In order to help victims of domestic violence, and to share profits from their business instead of giving it to the government in form of taxes, Verizon decided to donate $1.5 million to a couple of non-profit organizations.
The donation also matches the “Domestic Violence Awareness Month”, and according to Tim McCallion of Verizon, this is a “serious epidemic that affects people from every walk of life”.
Taking in consideration that Verizon likes organizations that support the victims via education, empowerment, and victim relief, this is the list of non-profit organizations from California that will receive a donation:
- DeafHope, Oakland - $50,000
- California Partnership to End Domestic Violence, Sacramento - $50,000
- Ocean Park Community Center, Santa Monica - $30,000

Prop. 8 on the California ballot this year is a proposition which wants to ban gay marriage in the state. What do you think about that?
Apple is opposing this whole scenario and to prove it all it will be donating no less than $100,000 to the No on Prop. 8 campaign. Here’s what they said about the whole thing:
Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees’ same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights–including the right to marry–should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8.
What’s your stance on the whole thing?
