If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that an iPhone dictionary app entitled Ninjawords Dictionary was approved for the App Store only after some of suggestive words were erased. Well, it seems that Apple’s Phil Schiller has taken time to comment on the accusation.
According to Mr. Schiller, the fact that Ninjawords Dictionary used Wicktionary as a source for its definitions means that more vulgar terms were used than a traditional dictionary. Upon seeing this, App Store reviewers told the developers to wait until parental controls were in place to submit the app so it could be given a 17+ rating instead of censorship. The developers of said app then decided to censor some words and resubmit it so in an attempt to get to market faster but low and behold there were still suggestive words found in the dictionary which still earned it a 17+ rating.
So in conclusion, it was the developer’s choice to censor the words instead of pressure from Apple which, according to Schiller, there was none.

Maxian launched the E900 a few months ago, more specifically on December 2007, but they were able to do some upgrades and introduced the “new†portable media player - E900 DIC a few days ago.
Part of the improvements were made on the memory field, and instead of a hard-drive with 30GB, it now has a bigger one with 60GB. Some people call this device a player, while others call it a pocket dictionary with player functions, but the naming decision is up to you because both features are present.

Sharp recently announced their RD-CX300 electronic dictionary for the Korean market. It may not be an e-dictionary with wi-fi capabilities, but it comes in with a 20GB hard drive. The new and slightly thicker device features a 4.3″ TFT 260K-color display, QWERTY keyboard, SD card slot, MPEG4/WMV playback, FM radio, MP3 player, e-book viewer, Flash support, and voice recorder.
Due out in Korea, the RD-CX300 measures 5.3″ x 3.9″ x 1.2″ and weighs 12.4 ounces. It will be priced at $450.
Not the most beautiful gadget around, but a 20GB hard drive is impressive for something like this. It’s practically a step (and a full-blown OS) away from being a FlipStart. The 20GB hard drive is preloaded with 65 different types of dictionaries including Korean, Japanese, English etc.
