Intel have issued Moblin v2.0 beta for netbooks and nettops, which is the newest version of the company’s open-source OS for Atom-based devices. Mobile v2.0 has a new, visually-enhanced GUI, the “m_zone” homescreen, integrated Twitter and Last.fm widgets, and a new incorporated browser based on Mozilla’s engine. There’s also a new media player, with support for UPnP streaming and USB devices, a new connection manager with GUI, and the prediction of further social networking integration.
The free download is a 321MB that apparently only supports wired networking at present, not WiFi, though it’s vague if this is only on certain systems or all hardware. Mobile v2.0 also seems to be aiming towards netbooks/nettops only, rather than MIDs, which will likely disappointment to ultramobile fans.

Is it a phone? Is it a laptop? Is it a MID? Whatever it is, it’s made by Archos and it will supposedly run on Android. Archos might even go ahead and launch this one at the MWC.
The press release says this “Internet Media Tablet” will work as a phone too and it will use a new OMAP3 processor. We’re looking at a device that sports a 5-inch screen, up to 500GB hard drive, a battery capable of 7 hours of video playback and Flash support. Well it had me at 500GB hard drive. Now I’m really curious to see how it really looks like. Yeah, the picture doesn’t display the real thing yet. We’ll all have to wait until Q3 to get it but MWC might show it to us.

Hardly the best gift for Christmas and hardly the usual mobile device we get to talk about here, the Erectile Quality Monitor is still an interesting portable device. What it does is pretty simple, yet disturbing and weird. The device will measure the erectile quality of your, let’s say friend, and it will show you exactly what it’s up to. The device costs $79.99 and in case you suffer from erectile dysfunctions it might be worth the investment.

The bracelet in the picture is a smart gadget that will vibrate when your phone is ringing. How is that possible? Really simple actually. There’s some Bluetooth involved in the whole process and a small motor inside. When is that useful? At any time you don’t want your cell phone ringtone to be heard and you want to answer all incoming calls.
That’s quite a gadget for me. No matter what happens around me I keep any cell phone on vibration alert. You might imagine how I end up missing some phone calls from time to time. With this bracelet I surely wouldn’t. The whole thing costs $36.99. Too much? Mind you that’s all this bracelet does. Vibrate.
