Do you fly too much? Is it work-related or do you do it for fun? Well if you feel the need to surf the Internet while flying to your next destination you should check Aircell’s offers available for selected Virgin America, AirTran, Delta and America Airlines flights.

Aircell has announced two new Gogo plans for its customers: the Flight Pass for short trips and the 24-Hour Pass for those of you that fly across the ocean and back a lot.

The Flight Pass will cost you $5.95 for 90 minutes of in-flight WiFi connectivity while the 24-Hour Pass will cost $12.95. If you happen to fly almost daily then there’s a 30-day unlimited pass available for $49.95. I guess that at least some flight attendants will consider buying some cheap netbooks and getting this later plan for those interminable flights. After all why not surf the web while everyone else is sleeping?

We’ve just heard how Delta is ready to launch it’s WiFi service across its fleet and it looks like they aren’t the only ones to launch communications services for their passengers.

British bmi has decided to play with in-flight communication. It will go through a six month trial of OnAir voice service without voice. Passengers flying in that A320 from London to Moscow and back will be able to text messages while in the air. Will bmi offer full voice support in the future? WiFi? We’ll be there to report it!

  • We’ve seen various other companies offer WiFi during flight and probably in a couple of years all planes out there will have a fast Internet connection for you. Delta will initiate its new service in 2009 and WiFi will be available on shuttle flights. In due time all 330 planes in their domestic flight will be WiFi friendly. $10 hours is what you have to pay for 3 hours of access and $13 for flights over 3 hours. Too much you say? Yes, but you get to surf while flying.
