Vostro A860 is the codename of the new Dell laptop that was launched in the US. The 15.6-inch notebook is considered a low-end model and its price is a proof - only $380 after rebates.
There are 2 options for the processor: an Intel Celeron, or a Pentium Dual Core. The graphics card is powered by a GMA X3100+ and a GM965 chipset, which seems good enough to provide a 1366×768 resolution. As for the memory RAM, you’ve got 2 options as well, 1GB or 2GB of DDR2.
The hard-drive can either have 120GB or 160GB of memory, while its battery is on the 4-cell category. Other features include a single speaker, 2 USB ports, Firewire, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a 3-in-1 media vard reader.

In case you didn’t get the chance to buy your first netbook yet we have some good news for you. Dell’s Mini 9 has an 32GB SSD upgrade available for you. Unfortunately it costs $100 so maybe the news isn’t that great all of a sudden. I mean you’d buy a netbook because it’s small and very cheap right? for $100 you could very well get some sort of a HDD. Better yet, add a few more bucks and get an external HDD. That would be even more useful.

The Core i7 processor from Intel is something I’d want to test as soon as possible. It might not be as hot as some people say, but it’s certainly the processor we’ll be using in the future.
Dell has decided it was time it inserted it in some of its desktop systems. And let’s take a look at the first two, the XPS Studio and the XPS 730x. The Studio XPS desktop base model will get you 3GB memory, 256MB ATI Radeon HD 3450 GPU and a 500GB HDD for $949. Willing to pay more? $1,499 will get you 6GB of RAM, a 512MB2 ATI Radeon HD 4850, a 750GB HDD and a 24-inch S2409W Flat panel monitor.
The XPS 730x is gaming-ready. It can hold up to 6GB DDR3 memory, an updated thermal monitoring system and chasis and a choice between ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB and NVIDIA GeForce GTX280 1024MB. The 730x starts somewhere around $2,599 and no matter what hardware you choose, Vista and i7 will be there.
What do you think? Waiting for the Core i7?

Feel the need of getting a new 23 inch LCD monitor? Dell has one which is almost ready to be sold. The 23 inch SP2309 model has been leaked and here’s what’s waiting for you:
No matter if this model will be Vista 2 ready (yes we mean Windows 7) it would be sure fun to play with a new Dell LCD.

While Asus is working on a $200 entry-level netbook for sometime in the near future, we might see even cheaper netbooks from HP, Dell and Asus too. How’s that even possible? Well as you might have already guessed it, a 2-year broadband contract will get your chosen netbook to cost only $99. Is it worth it? Well I partly rely on an USB modem to get me online, so getting a cheap netbook with that might prove to be a pretty smart investment.

We’ve seen the Mini 12 before. It’s a bigger Dell netbook. One I would actually use for my daily work. But is it going to be launched by Dell anytime soon? It looks like netbook lovers in Japan are going to see it coming soon.
The new 12-inch will get you either a 60GB or a 80GB HDD drive, and a choice of OS between XP, Vista or Ubuntu Linux. Would we want Windows Vista Basic in a netbook? After Japan, the Mini 12 is going to hit the USA by the end of November and it will cost late than $600.

I thought this was another netbook launched by Dell when in fact it’s the same Mini 9 we’ve seen about a month ago. The Dell Vostro A90 it’s a netbook which will launched in Japan only for now, and it will cost around $972 which is way out of my league when it comes to netbook prices.
The price is preposterous considering the fact the A90 doesn’t bring anything new to the table. It’s the same Mini 9 inside a new case. Anyone readying this from Japan? What do you think?

If you’re still not impressed with any of the latest MacBooks, you might want a desktop like the Alienware Aurora from Dell. The new gaming PC will come exclusively from Best Buy for an exclusive price of only $1,699.99. For that exclusive price you will get some exclusive components like the AMD Phenom X4 9550 2.2GHz quad-core processor, the dual ATI Radeon HD 4850 video card with a total of 1GB GDDR3 RAM and the 4GB DDR2 RAM. The exclusive hard drive is a 500GB spinning at 7,200rpm. Other features are gigabit Ethernet, no less than 8 USB 2.0 ports, 2 Firewire ports, 2 S-video ports and 4 DVI ports.
The exclusive Aurora has Windows Vista on but it will probably be a mean gaming machine. So go get one if you’re a hardcore gamer looking for a new gadget.

If you remember correctly, when we started talking about Dell’s notebooks, the E Slim line, we had some leaked info according to which Dell was supposed to launch multiple notebooks of different sizes. We already have the Inspiron Mini 9 but that’s about it.
So what do we have in the picture here? It might just be the 12 inch Dell E Slim notebook we have been waiting for. We don’t have anything official yet but who knows what next week will bring. Besides the new Apples we might see new Dell showing up.

Dell has recently launched its netbook line. The Inspiron Mini 9 entered the market a little late, but I am confident it will catch the competition soon. And Dell went ahead and made its netbook available with Linux OS but with a twist. If you want to choose Ubuntu 8.04 as your default operating system then you will automatically choose the 8GB SSD model. If you want more memory, better get a card or an external hard drive.
The Mini 9 Linux version costs £269 or $472 while the Windows XP version costs £299 or $525.

I guess Psystar fans should definitely see this. While the people who installed a running copy of Mac OS X aren’t trying to sell the tuned Dell Inspiron Mini 9 to anyone, this goes to prove that Appe’s OS could run on PC’s too. Imagine what would happen if Psystar wins it’s trial with Apple! Imagine how Microsoft will go all berserk if a judge will tell manufacturers that selling PC with Mac OS X will be ok! (more…)

Marking the entry of Hollywood in PC manufacturing, Dell and Paramount Pictures have teamed up to allow consumers to preload Iron Man into newly purchased computers. This is the only film currently being offered, and consumers will be able to purchase it for an additional $20 on the price of their newly configured Dell computers.
"The key focus here is to lead off our slow immersion into content as a major piece of the puzzle in terms of what consumers want from a PC," said Rachna Bhasin, director of content for Dell’s global consumer group.
The movie will be preinstalled on Dell’s Inspiron, Studio and XPS laptop and desktop models. Surely crippled with DRM, consumers will be able to watch it on their computers, their TVs and burn one copy to DVD. Dell hopes to increase the selection of movies in the future.

The FCC has just revealed a Dell printer which is going to be released soon. It’s a Bluetooth printer which will print stuff for you without ink. It’s going to use Zink technology for printing but we don’t exactly know more details. We’re probably going to have a similar printing experience to Polaroid-pictures printing.

Almost one year ago Dell released the Precision M6300 laptop, and they are making a come back by launching the M6400 model. The high-end notebook has a nice set of specifications, which include an Intel Core 2 Quad processor running at 2.54GHz, plus 4GB of DDR3 RAM memory, and a graphics card powered by NVIDIA – Quadro FX 2700M with 512MB.
There is an option on the type of hard-drive, that can either be SSD (Solid State Drive) with a maximum capacity of 128GB, or the normal dual hard drives boasting 640GB. Thanks to the 17-inch screen there are two resolution options: 1440×900 and 1920×1200 pixels. The connectivity is made by WiFi (802.11 a/g/n), Bluetooth, Ultra-Wideband, GPS, USB ports, Firewire, and eSATA.

You know you were waiting for this, and even though it’s not in the states, it sounds pretty cool. Vodafone has announced that they will begin offering Dell’s netbook, the Mini 9, with bundled 3G connectivity.
While users will be paying £25 per month (or about $45) for 1GB of transfers every month, Vodafone promises users of the bundle download speeds in the ranges of 1Mb/s and 5Mb/s. You obviously won’t be doing much torrenting, but you can check your emails damn fast!
