If recent reports from DigiTimes are to be believed, we may be seeing 2 ASUS branded ultrathin laptops featuring Intel’s 45nm Celeron 745 and SUE2300 processors make their debut sometime next week.
There isn’t much more to know other than the first markets getting the laptops will apparantly be Europe, Taiwan and China sometime right around September 7th.
These reports are added to the fact that ASUS president, Jerry Shen, had previously stated that ultrathin laptops will make up for 10-20% of the company’s laptop shipments for Q3 of 2009.

Sure, Acer may be slowing down their netbook production for the rest of the year but that doesn’t mean they are going to skimp on other hardware offerings.
What you see above is one of their 8000 Series notebooks which will be made available in 13.3, 13 and 15.6 inch sizes. The entire series features either Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Solo ULV CPUs, 4-8GB of RAM, an 80GB SSD (or 160GB/500GB harddrives) and either a Intel GMA 4500MHD or ATI 4330 GPU. Additionally, the 8000 series will feature a multitouch fingerpad and the option for 3G at a later date.
We’ll keep you posted on a release date and pricing as it’s made known.
