Spring Designs has introduced Alex, the first e-book based on the Google Android carrying full browsing capabilities as well as dual screen interaction technology, the Duet Navigator. The Alex combines the ability to read on a monochrome EPD screen while displaying the dynamic hyperlinked information on the secondary screen in full color. Alex is the first Google Android-based e-book device to provide full Internet browsing over Wi-Fi or mobile networks such as 3G, EVDO/CDMA and GSM.
There is no word yet on when the Alex would be made available since Spring Design is still in talks with major content providers. Hopefully something definite would come out at the end of the year.

After the celebrated announcement of the iPhone OS 3.0, experts are predicting a significant surge as far as in A2P MMS campaigns from mobile marketers, advertisers and content providers.
“All along, interest in A2P MMS has been growing rapidly. With Apple’s announcement today, the A2P MMS flood gates will soon open - not only to the iPhone but across all handsets and carriers as well. The timing of the announcement couldn’t be better because it coincides with improvements in A2P MMS interoperability and our enhanced platform features for MMS deployment,” said Eicher.
Skycore delivers messaging and content primarily using MMS since nearly every phone launched during the past several years has been MMS enabled – notably excluding the iPhone. Skycore had to develop a work-around for the iPhone where, instead of an MMS, it would deliver content using SMS with Web links.
One of the major drawbacks of SMS is its 140-160 character message limit. Alternatively, MMS enables messaging thousands of characters, including hyperlinks, along with images, audio and video.
“With the iPhone supporting MMS, marketers will be able to push a ubiquitous, rich, multimedia experience directly to the inbox. And although SMS is currently ubiquitous and less expensive than MMS, the gap is closing and experienced mobile marketers are starting to integrate MMS into their upcoming campaigns,” added Eicher.

Mobile browsing can be a drag at times but that doesn’t mean it will stay like that forever. Thanks to the expertise of companies like Bytemobile, a new mobile application to make mobile browsing easier has made life easier for mobile phone owners.
The Widget Bar is an optional application of its Web Fidelity™ Suite software. The application is designed to simplify the mobile browsing experience by providing useful, personally relevant information in real time to users without extensive search and navigation.
The Widget Bar application can be placed on any portal or off-portal web page that is delivered to mobile browsers, allowing operators to maintain a valuable presence in front of their customers at all times.
The software can be also used to deliver external content which opens the door for operators to engage in profitable partnerships with content providers as well.
