Amazon has recently bought a company known as Touchco, a company that makes cheap and multitouch displays. The Kindle will probably be changed as a result of this acquisition, and there could be something else on the horizon for the Kindle.
According to Digitimes, the company that supplies the Amazon with Kindle displays are working on touchscreen electrophoretic panels. This could mean color pressure sensitive touchscreen EPDs that will support animation this year, and it could mean that we could be seeing some color, and a number of interesting things to expand the Kindle’s uses. Who, look out, iPad!

Today is not a good day to announce something new in electronics. I mean, do you really want to try and one-up Apple’s iPad? Well, Asus has made an announcement on their Eee Pad, and Taiwan’s Delta Electronics have an announcement of their own with their color e-reader.
That’s right, a full-color e-reader. It has a 13.1-inch color screen and relies on e-paper technology from Bridgestone. It should be available in the second quarter of 2010, but I don’t know the price as yet.
