Samsung unveils its own folding mobile phone, sporting a look similar to that of Nokia’s 6600 Fold. But as we all know, Samsung has been known to make folding phones one of their niche trademarks. The Samsung S5510 comes with a flat mirror surface and a hidden screen to kick off this Samsung clamshell phone.

Among the features of the Samsung S5510 include a 2.1” screen QVGA 240×320 pixels. It can display up to 16 million colors TFT and comes with the usual Bluetooth connectivity, USB connection and 30MB internal memory. It also accommodates microSD cards up to 8GB. Other highlights include a FM radio, MP3 player, WAP, and a built-in 3.2 megapixel camera without auto focus.

Just earlier this month we notified you of the impending AT&T release for the Nokia Mural. Well, it seems that before the device even got a chance to take off, AT&T is halting all sales.

Unfortunately, this delay is until further notice (which could mean forever) due to the production model of the device unable to work over AT&T’s 3G network. As for the stock that’s already out there, BGR reports that retailers have been ordered to send the phone back to headquarters for a software update.

Those of you discouraged about this news need not be as there are countless 3G clamshell alternatives out there.

The new Samsung M2310 is a clamshell design mobile phone that has dual displays, dedicated music controls, an FM radio with RDS and FM recording. The integrated VGA camera with 640 x 480 pixels is adequate and there is Bluetooth 2.1 technology. The 2-inch main display features a 240 x 400 pixel resolution with 256K colors while the external display is a 1.1 inch CSTN 96 x 96 pixels.

As the model connotes, this wine-colored LG UX280 is a mid-entry level phone designed for users who need easy to use mobile solution. Though the LG UX280 seems to sound basic, it is something any new cell phone owner would be proud to show off thanks mainly to its design.

The relationship between MetroPCS and Chinese manufacturer ZTE continues with the new ZTE C79 clamshell launching on the carrier’s network. Like many of its previous models, the C79 sticks to a flip-phone form factor and falls into the mid-to-low range category. It is designed to work with both CDMA and AWS frequencies with support for @metro access for downloadable content. Measuring a thin 3.5×1.75×0.7 inches, the C79 is endowed with an internal 176×220px 262k display along with an external display of 96×64 pixels and a 1.3-megapixel camera. Multimedia isn’t exactly a strong point for this flipper as there’s only a music player with dedicated music controls on the front and a meager 69MB of internal storage with 2GB microSD support. Bluetooth has also made it through and that’s the only available outlet if you are thinking wireless.

You can order the ZTE C79 off the net from MetroPCS’ website or in its stores across the country for $169 in a single color combo of red and black.

Another CDMA phone that’s recently unveiled by Kyocera along with the Neo E1100 is the Kyocera Mako S4000 clamshell phone. It has a simple silver box design, not unlike the typical phones in Japan. The phone has a 1.8-inch 128 x 160 pixels TFT internal display and a 1-inch 96 x 96 pixels resolution CSTN external display. It features a VGA camera with digital zoom, Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition, WAP 2.0 browser, and Brew capability for downloading of polyphonic tones, games, wallpapers, and screensavers. For some reason, LG seems to think it’s cool to keep naming their phones after sweets. The recently unveiled LG LH5000 is also known as the Ice Cream Phone. The pastel-colored clamshell comes in strawberry, vanilla, and pistachio hues. It measures 13.6 mm and has LED lighting. Other specs include 2.2″ QVGA display, 2 megapixel camera, and 3G connection. LG LH5000’s MSRP is between US$400 to $500 in Korea.

Leaks are always a great thing and we’re glad this one got to us. Apparently, a new and unidentified Sony Ericsson clamshell has been spotted. If we based our observations on the pic, it seems the new phone has mobile web browsing capability, Bluetooth connectivity, and GPS functionality. It’s being touted as a “stylish” phone and although we can’t see much from the blurry pic, it looks okay to me. We can’t wait ’til more info about this Sony Ericsson handset comes out. We’ll make sure to report them.

Virgin Mobile USA announced its first LG cell phone, the LG Aloha, available in a clamshell design and metallic finish. The Aloha is touted as an affordable phone featuring a metallic front and matte back finish. It offers a 65k color display, and useful features such as voice-activated dialing and speakerphone. There are a few bundled games on the LG Aloha, including ZooZoo Club and Battle Reversi. Customers can also choose other games, ringtones, screensavers and more.

Measuring 3.5″ x 1.9″ x 0.9″, the LG Aloha weighs in at 2.7 oz. There’s memory for about 199 contacts (each having up to 5 phone numbers, 3 email addresses and one URL). Talktime offered by the phone is around 180 minutes with about 150 hours of standby.

The LG Aloha carries a price tag of just US $34.99 and will be available both online and in retail locations starting September 2007.
