Cellular South picked the HTC Hero a few weeks ago, and today they started accepting pre-orders for the smartphone. And the best part is that there is a “good” deal to go with it, related to the monthly plans.

At $80 per month you get the best package - Smartphone Unlimited Plan - which includes everything unlimited such as talk, text, web and email. In case you want to add another phone to this plan, it only costs half the price of the original, and for $40 you get the same. The HTC Hero can be pre-ordered online or at Cellular South stores for $100 after rebate.

  • We knew Cellular South was planning something Android for later this year, but we had no idea that it would be the HTc Hero, much less the same version that Sprint is going to get!  The CDMA Hero is not available yet on the carrier’s website but you can sign yourself up to be informed on when that happens, if you happen to be in its coverage area.  Cellular South users will be getting the same goodness as the Sprint users will, with a 5mpx cam, Sense UI to go with its 3.2-inch touchscreen display, aGPS, digital compass, and microSD expansion. Great handset, and if it comes as cheap as the Touch Diamond did last year, we are pretty sure Cellular South will have a lot of Android-happy customers. (more…)

  • Cellular South customers have been getting a lot of attention lately from their carrier, first it was the Thumbplay service, than it was mobile banking, and right now it is the HTC Touch Diamond cellphone for only $200.

The cause of the low price is a 2-year contract that you must sign with Cellular South, otherwise the handset costs $500. On the other hand, taking in consideration that their Total Unlimited plan costs $80 and comes with limitless SMS, mobile web + email, and talk time, it might be a good deal in the end, depending on how frequently you use all the free services.
