Celio are looking to extend support for their REDFLY smartphone companion device so the company is evidently looking into developing BlackBerry support for the REDFLY devices by the end of 2009, with Android expected to be the next candidate after that. The REDFLY devices look like netbooks, but are actually intended to be used as interface devices with a user’s Windows Mobile smartphone.

7-inch and 8-inch models are currently available and provide more screen space for the smartphone, as well as having QWERTY keyboards and trackpads for easier text-entry and navigation. Until the BlackBerry and, later Android support arrives Celio have reduced prices of their existing range. The 7-inch REDFLY C7 is now priced at $199, while the 8-inch REDFLY C8N has been reduced to $249

It boasts an 800 x 480 screen, with dimensions 6×9x1. It weighs a mere 1.9 pounds which ensures optimum portability. Battery life is eight hours due to the fact that it doesn’t run on its own resources. The REDFLY will be available starting March 2008 and will retail for $499. A bit expensive for a just laptop and a keyboard if you ask me.
