All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

What do you know, Canadians, the Droid is ready to come your way soon. The phone will be known as the Milestone which seems to be the name Motorola has decided to stick with when it comes to the rest of the world. The Milestone has already been spotted in Germany and Brazil so it’s safe to say that only Verizon will sell it as the Droid in the USA.

Telus is said to bring the Milestone to Canadian customers early next year but there are no dates available at this point. There are no price tags either yet so we will all have to wait for the official press release before we get excited.

    SEG Clip for iPhones

Most iPhone owners would love to discover new ways to enhance their iPhones. While these mobile devices from Apple are known to be able to play videos in certain formats, portable TV tuners may be one thing lacking. Similar to the desktop PC, a TV tuner may be needed and that is exactly what this USB clip aims to deliver.

Called the SEG Clip, this USB clip from Japan allows users to enjoy TV viewing right from their very own iPhones. The SEG Clip supports 1SEG, a TV standards used in Japan, Peru and Brazil. One catch is that is should be hooked on to a PC’s USB port that will thereafter allow the user to stream digital TV data to their iPhone via WiFi connection.

Just in case you cannot finish watching the TV program, you can get a software called the TVPlayer which can save TV programs for later viewing. The program is free over at the Japan App Store.

Compatible with the iPhone 3G, 3GS and the iPod Touch, the SEG Clip will be released by the end of the month in Japan and will carry a $70 price tag.

The Nokia 5800 is the first product to receive the service, a 3.2″ widescreen touch screen model, which already sold 3 million units since its arrival in the market in November of last year

Starting today, the device is available for purchase at Nokia Store SP (Rua Oscar Freire, 849) and at Nokia’s online store. TIM will be the only operator to sell the solution during first month of launch. By purchasing the device, customer is immediately entitled to enable the Comes With Music service and start exploring and downloading more than three million tracks of international and Brazilian artists, unlimitedly, for one year, thanks to agreements signed with the four of the world’s largest labels and hundreds of independent labels. Downloads can be made via PC, as well directly to the Nokia 5800 device. When this period comes to an end, consumers will be able to keep all tracks on their computers and mobile devices

With Nokia 5800 Comes With Music, it is possible to have access to YouTube directly to the application installed in the device, as well as to create and edit videos and still photos, as well as a direct upload to TIM Studio, a service that turns the customer an authentic multimedia producer: besides being able to share all their productions among TIM users throughout Brazil, they will win BRL 1.50 in credits for each 10 downloads of any content that they create.

  • We thought the iPhone 3G will be unlocked, but within a week of its release and in Brazil, where it isn’t even available yet, that’s something we didn’t expect. Seems like Brazilian company, DesbloqueioBr, has managed to do away with the chains giving users a chance to have a go on other carriers and it has a video to prove it. Just a simple firmware alteration and a special SIM card add-on should do the trick, according to the company, albeit with a drop in connection quality. But don’t expect it to come cheap as DesbloqueioBr is thinking of snatching up to 375 of your greens before you go scotfree with your second-gen iPhone. Time to rev up your engines and push that firmware update out soon Apple!
