All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

Just in case RIM’s BlackBerry Curve didn’t have enough color schemes, Sprint has announced the launch of their exclusive Inferno Orange 8330 that we first heard about last week.

Sure, this device is sure to be overshadowed by the recently launched BlackBerry Tour but perhaps its $49.99 price point after mail-in rebate and 2-year contract will interest some consumers.

Unfortunately, the Inferno Orange BlackBerry Curve 8330 will feature the same specs as the normal 8330. Bummer, but at least you will turn some heads with its unique color, right?

Here’s some good news, at least for those Sprint customers expecting more from their default carrier. Sprint wants its future phones, at least the smart ones, to have WiFi capabilities. According to a Sprint spokesperson WiFi will be there “in all its major devices going forward”. The brief announcement was made while Sprint was confirming that a future BlackBerry Tour capable of WiFi connectivity will be available sometime next year.

We salute Sprint’s decision to require WiFi from the manufacturers it works with. It’s never too late, Verizon! AT&T, you can do it too!

  • We just got word that Verizon Wireless would allow its subscribers to pre-order the Blackberry Tour which raised the question; will Sprint do the same?

According to a recent tweet from Sprint’s manager of social media and interactive communications, no. A twitter user reportedly asked if the Blackberry Tour would be made available to for pre-order to which @srdhoerty replied “No pre-orders for the Tour, if that’s what you mean.”

Hmm, bummer but will this even be an issue? Probably not.

Just a few days ago a leaked advertisement displayed the BlackBerry Tour’s Verizon Wireless release date as being July 12th. Well, it looks like that advertisement held some truth as Verizon has come forth and confirmed that the phone will in fact be hitting the carrier on July 12th for $200.

So what have you, will you be purchasing a BlackBerry Tour?
