30 Jan 10 T-Mobile to offer free replacement on trackballs of certain BlackBerry models

blackberry_trackball_250x250I didn’t realize that there was any problem with the trackballs on certain BlackBerry models, but T-Mobile is offering a free service to replace the trackballs on the BlackBerry Pearl 8100, 8120, not to mention the BlackBerry Curve 8320.

The user has to be a T-Mobile customer in order to get this free replacement. I’m guessing you’re probably going to have to prove that when you go to the T-Mobile store to get it replaced. If you are in need of a replacement trackball on your T-Mobile, then wait until February 15th before heading to your nearest T-Mobile outlet. There is no word on when this free replacement service will expire, so I recommend getting it done as soon as possible.

27 Jan 10 Blackberry Curve 8530 Cell Phone Review–A Small Step Up

Verizon-BlackBerry-Curve-8530-Smartphone_1You may wonder why I’m talking about the Blackberry 8530 Curve cell phone after only just talking about the Blackberry Curve 8330, and the answer is, frankly, simple.  The Blackberry Curve 8530 will offer a few new features that the 8330 did not, and thus, it bears some discussion.

The BlackBerry Curve 8530 Comes with a two megapixel camera with a 5X digital zoom, video recording capability, the Blackberry trackball, a thirty five key QWERTY keyboard, media keys, Blackberry Maps, an integrated speaker and microphone, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS, support for a variety of video and audio formats, e911 capability, and a battery capable of generating four and a half hours of talk time.

So you can see there are some new features here–a slightly longer lived battery, e911 capability which can be a lifesaver in and of itself–among the plenty of standard features, like that horrible Blackberry trackball that’s more sensitive than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

If you liked the 8330, then there’s not too much doubt you’ll really like the Blackberry 8530.

The Good

A few improvements over the Blackberry 8330

All of the upshots of the 8330

The Bad

Most all the flaws of the 8330 are here too

26 Jan 10 Blackberry 8330 Curve Review–Blackberry Standard

vzw-blackberry-curve-8330Despite the fact that Blackberry and I have had some troubles before for their near-constant array of wildly similar products, I have come to realize that the Blackberry line can be called dull and faceless, but they can also be called consistent.  And there is no more consistent product line, I’ve found, than Blackberry, as is evidenced by today’s review target, the Blackberry 8330 Curve.

The Blackberry Curve comes with wireless email, an organizer, a web browser, a two megapixel camera with video recording capability, Blackberry Maps, a media player, GPS, full QWERTY keyboard, the standard Blackberry trackball, Bluetooth connectivity, compatibility with MicroSD cards and a battery capable of generating a maximum of four hours of talk time.

And like most other Blackberry products, the 8330 Curve is an all-business phone with a overly sensitive trackball and plenty of nifty options.  This one is much like any other Blackberry, in pretty much every sense.

The Good

Consistency above all

Great for business

Plenty of useful features

The Bad

Short on fun

Another face in the crowd for Blackberry

27 Sep 09 EWG ranks handsets based on radiation level

Have you ever thought about how much radiation you are pumping into your body talking on your cell phone all the time? Neither did I until i saw EWG.org’s handset ranking based on radiation output.

As you can see above, phones that output immense amounts of radiation but are still popular include the Blackberry Curve 8330, the T-Mobile myTouch 3G and, sadly, the Blackberry Bold 9000.

And for those of you out there with an iPhone, yes, it outputs a lot of radiaton.

Check out the full list of handsets here.

17 Sep 09 T-Mobile Tweets Blackberry Trade-in Deal

The opportunity to save on buying a new mobile device such as a Blackberry may be somewhat stalled at times. And one main reason seen for this is the price for getting a new one. But if the tweets made by T-Mobile is accurate enough, you may just get a big break. Apparently there are reports that T-Mobile will be giving consumers up to a $50 off if they trade-in their old “working” phones and get a brand new Blackberry Curve.

There seems to be some confusion on what actual phones are included in this promotion. In fact, it seems that the promotion only offers a Blackberry Curve 8520. That was until T-Mobile posted a lot of current curve models tied up with it. But one thing is for sure, you will get a $50 off. So if you are aching to get a new Blackberry, here is your chance so I suggest you grab it!

27 Jul 09 BlackBerry Curve 8520 officially announced

We’ve been hearing about this handset for a long time but it seems RIM has finally decided its time to let the BlackBerry Curve 8520 out of the bag.

This phone will officially feature a 320 x 240 resolution display, 2MP camera with video capture, WiFi, a track pad in place of the iconic track ball and the ability to sync up with Macs right out of the box. This is probably thanks to the Mac version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager that we heard about not too long ago.

Better yet, RIM has also us know that those rumors of the 8520 coming to T-Mobile were true as the phone will officially drop on said carrier August 5th for $129.99.

13 Jul 09 Sprint launches Inferno Orange Blackberry Curve 8330

Just in case RIM’s BlackBerry Curve didn’t have enough color schemes, Sprint has announced the launch of their exclusive Inferno Orange 8330 that we first heard about last week.

Sure, this device is sure to be overshadowed by the recently launched BlackBerry Tour but perhaps its $49.99 price point after mail-in rebate and 2-year contract will interest some consumers.

Unfortunately, the Inferno Orange BlackBerry Curve 8330 will feature the same specs as the normal 8330. Bummer, but at least you will turn some heads with its unique color, right?

People who want to use their Blackberry Smartphones to watch full episodes of popular TV programs from leading networks can be able to do so with the launch of PrimeTime2Go premium mobile TV service.

The monthly subscription fee-based service will be available in early May via the BlackBerry App World storefront, and will enable consumers to download and watch full-length episodes of their favorite shows on-demand including NBC’s “The Office,” CBS’s “CSI,” MTV’s “The Hills,” a part of MTV Networks, and The CW’s “90210” anytime, anywhere.
