The Harlem Globetrotters add another feather in their cap in building their basketball brand with the release of the Spin That Ball! app which was made possible through the efforts of Candystand.com. This will mark the team’s first mobile app developed for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, something that should capture iPhone owners who love the game of basketball.

The game is quite simple. Users are tasked to control the finger of Globetrotters Showman Special K Daley to balance and spin the team’s legendary red, white and blue ball for as long as possible. The game was enhanced for the iPhone with touch and tilt screen capabilities, something familiar for most games we have seen out in the market to date.

The Spin That Ball! app is now available for $0.99 at the iTunes store.

Nokia FIBA

Nokia and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced a joint venture to create mobile services for the association, as well as some of the most important basketball championship events in 2007.

The new service is targeted at basketball fans giving them a convenient way to access the latest news, scores and interviews on the go. The service will be accessible on any internet-enabled phone. The FIBA mobile content will also be available through the Nokia Video Center available on the Nokia N95.

Nokia will also be providing reporters with the Nokia N93i multimedia computer for recording high quality video and photo, which will then be made available on the FIBA mobile websites.
