Dell has recently taken to announce a new addition to their laptop lineup, the Inspiron 17. This is a bit of a larger laptop than Dell’s other offerings as it features a LED backlit 17.3-inch display with a 1600×900 resolution.

As for specs, you’ll be able to choose from a 2GHz Pentium dual-core processor all the way up to a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. The base model is configured with 2GB or Ram, integrated graphics, 160GB harddrive and Vista Home Basic. Best of all it ships with an extremely justifiable price tag of just $499.

If you’re looking to go a bit higher than said price that then you can opt for a Blu-ray drive, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 GPU with 256MB of dedicated RAM. Electronista reports that in September you will also be given the option of 512MB of dedicated video RAM along with a 1080p display.

Now don’t get all scared/excited folks! This is just a rumor circling the web today. It seems that Apple is considering replacing NVIDIA chips in its future Macs as it looks like negotiations between the two companies have come to a halt. Is AMD/ATI stepping in? Are we going to see Apple work with Intel? Are the new Macs going to have Core i7 chips under the hood? Is that even possible at this point? Right now we don’t have any official position from neither Apple nor NVIDIA. We can assume that Apple is punishing NVIDIA for the recent chip defects spotted in new Macs. And considering the fact that the Cupertino-based company has been hiring lots of former AMD graphics employees we can also assume that something’s happening and the future of MacBooks might be totally different.
