MSI has yet to announce North American availability for their U210 netbook but that hasn’t stopped Amazon.com from putting it up for pre-order.
The above pictured device will feature a 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, a 1366×768 12.1 inch WXGA display, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and 802.11n WiFi connectivity. All of this added to Vista Home Premium and a 6 cell battery rated good for 5 hours and you have yourself an above par notebook.
The only bad part? It’s priced at $429.99.

The HP Pavilion dv2 is going to be talked about these following days. It’s the first notebook which is going to run on that AMD Athlon Neo platform we’ve discussed earlier today.
The Pavilion dv2 will boast a 12.1 inch LED-backlit display and it will weigh just under four pounds. We’ll find a 2.5 inch hard drive inside it and you can choose from the 160GB base model all the way up to the 500GB model. Optional Blu-ray is available and as for ports we’re going to find three USB ports, an HDMI port, a 5-in-1 memory card reader, a VGA and an Ethernet port.
The dv2 will arrive in espresso or moonlight, or black or white if you have to ask. What we need now is a launch day and an exact price although we suspect this laptop will cost anywhere from $500 to $1,000.

One of the big names still absent from the flourishing netbook business is AMD. The company has decided not to enter this niche yet but it’s definitely reconsidering its options. We’re not going to see AMD in our next netbooks just yet but AMD has decided to release the Athlon Neo platform for ultrathin notebooks.
AMD is thinking about notebooks which have bigger screens than netbooks but are still ultraportable and fairly cheap. AMD will use its new platform for notebooks in the 11 to 13 inches range.
The platform featuring the 1.6GHz Neo is said to handle better multiple applications better than Intel Atoms and it will be bundle with an ATI Radeon graphic card, either the X1250 or the HD3410.
One of the first laptops to use the new platform is a 12-inch Pavilion dv2 from HP which is thin and ultraportable and it will be priced under $1,000. Isn’t AMD a little bit too late to release a new notebook platform?
