  • The ASUS Eee PC T91 netbook should have been available in the UK for several weeks now, but the 8.9-inch tablet has been nonexistent from online and traditional retail stores. A company official told AsusTablet, that delay is due to a “logistical mishap” in distribution and that we can evidently expect the netbook to arrive in stores from Monday June 22nd.

This ASUS representative didn’t go on to explain the exact nature of the “mishap”.   It’s also unknown whether the delay will impact shipments of the netbook outside of the UK. The T91 is supposed to begin shipping in the U.S. this week.

  • Asus has a new Eee PC ready and you can pre-order it on Amazon for just $349.99. In case you don’t know what to choose between the 1005HA or the 1008HA I’d suggest the first one since its battery can be simply replaced by you. In terms of feature you can expect the same Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, Windows XP Hope in the background, 1GB of RAM, WiFi, a 10.1-inch WSVGA screen and a 160GB SATA HDD.

Frankly we’re tired of all these announcements saying that Garmin-Asus is going to deliver a certain nuvifone in the near future. The latest one is saying that the G60 will arrive in August and it will apparently not be delayed to 2010. It looks like the Linux-related problems have been fixed and the device will be ready for commercial launch. The G60 is going to be followed to even hotter phone and they will run either Android or Windows Mobile. So what do you think folks? Will you trust Garmin-Asus again?

Standard wireless includes WiFi draft-n and Bluetooth.  Additional options include TV tuner and GPS receiver. It’s still unclear what the Eee PC T91 will cost in the U.S., but UK pricing for the convertible netbook is around £449 ($684).

  • Garmin-Asus haven’t been that great at launching new phones on time but we’re willing to cut them some slack since they seem to work hard on their future handsets. While the nuvifone might not be that interesting all of a sudden, you should keep an eye on Garmin-Asus since they could launch an Android handset early next year. Their first Android phone should arrive in the first quarter of the year and we will be waiting for it nervously. Anyone anticipating a hot Android Garmin-Asus phone? Will it be launched on time?

Google is expecting anywhere from 18-20 Android phones this year from 8 or 9 different manufacturers. That means our Android universe will just get better. Andy Rubin said all that during the Google I/O conference but the number could be even bigger since some manufacturers might not have revealed their Android plans yet. So far we know that HTC, Motorola, Samsung, Acer, Dell, Sony Ericsson, Huawei, Kogan Agora and Asus have all announced one way or another that they are going to make at least one Android phone. Given these future choices, what will you buy? Android, Apple or Palm?

Once again, Kingston Technology has made another first by offering the first 12GB Triple-Channel DDR3 HyperX 1600MHz Memory Kit for Intel Core i7 systems. Kingston has had that knack of being the first to offer new memory modules such as the 2GB and the 4GB, memory chips important to support the latest Intel Core processors.

“Our latest kit of three was tested with great success on the Asus P6T Deluxe motherboard and runs at a speedy 1600MHz to take full advantage of the memory controller on the Core i7 processor for unmatched performance.” - Mark Tekunoff, senior technology manager, Kingston

The 12GB kit is the largest kit available to date in the HyperX family of triple-channel memory solutions. Smaller capacity kits are available that support frequencies of up to 2GHz. The Kingston HyperX is backed by a lifetime warranty.

There is a new kind of memory in the market and will certainly rock the configuration of latest CPU specifics today. The new memory is the Corsair Dominator which has just gotten the Intel’s XMP-Ready certification for Core i7 Extreme Edition processors, making it the fastest memory kit to date.

The 6GB Dominator GT 2000MHz CAS 8 (TR3X6G2000C8GTF) is part of Corsair’s award-winning Dominator GT line of hand-screened, hand-tuned, extreme performance DDR3 memory for Core i7 platforms. It is qualified and guaranteed to run at a frequency of 2000MHz with tight timings of 8-8-8-24 at a voltage of 1.65V. The platform used for the Intel qualification was an Asus P6T Deluxe.

We have seen the fast evolution of internal components of the PC industry and for sure, this signals a new birth in the age of memory modules today. All Corsair Dominator GT modules are built using the patent-pending DHX+ heatsink, which uniquely cools both the front and back of the memory ICs, and the printed circuit board, for greater reliability and increased overclocking flexibility.

Remember that Eee Keyboard which Asus has presented a while ago? Well that tiny computer will be available in June so get ready to buy it. I’d still get a laptop instead of a Eee Keyboard but such a devices could come in really handy around the house or even at the office. Asus might launch it officially at Computex during the first week of June.

We just don’t care anymore of the Asus-Garmin nuvifone will ever see the light of day. The phone has been delayed again and by the time it will actually be released we will be busy with lots of other hot phones. Garmin’s president and COO Cliff Pemble said in a conference call that the nuvifone G60 is complicated and that “bringing one to market that’s built totally from the ground up on a custom Linux platform is not an easy task.” I am sure he is right but the company had plenty of time to figure out a way to make the nuvifone happen. What’s more annoying is that the partnership with Asus hasn’t been that beneficial for the nuvifone yet. What phone will you buy instead of the nuvifone G60?

  • ASUS UK Launch Eee PC T91

ASUS revealed their UK launch schedule for the Eee PC T91. This convertible netbook was announced back in January at CES and will now be arriving in the UK in late May or early June, with a MRSP of £449 ($675). The company has not confirmed US launch details yet.

The final specifications for the T91 are still unconfirmed, but, apparently it uses an 8.9-inch capacitive touchscreen, Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and Eee PC Touch UI. Optional TV tuner and GPS have also been hinted at, although they’re unconfirmed as well for this first launch.

  • ASUS Eee PC 1000HA Updated

    ASUS Eee PC 1000HA

    ASUS Eee PC 1000HA

ASUS announced that they are now offering their Eee PC 1000HA netbook model with a new ” chiclet-style” keyboard that’s comfier and easier to use. Before this update, some of the keys were in non-traditional places which made typing by touch difficult. But that’s been rectified and the new 92% keyboard feels comfortable and responds accurately since the keys are divided and blocky.

The battery life has also increased to 7 hours due to energy-saving components like the Intel Atom processor, the LED-backlit display and the Super Hybrid Engine or SHE, which lets you adjust power consumption as needed. Other specs include 1GB of RAM, a 10.2-inch screen with a 1,024 x 600 resolution, a 160GB HDD, Wi-Fi B and G and 10GB of online storage. You can get the newly altered Eee PC 1000HA now for around $349.

  • We’ve talked about the nuvifone a bunch of times before but the phone hasn’t been actually released yet. We have been waiting for Garmin and Asus to finish whatever they were supposed to finish in order to launch the phone and it looks like all that waiting paid off.

The nuvifone G60 is scheduled for a June release which is a pretty bold move from Garmin and Asus. As long as the phone is coming out before the new iPhone it might stand a chance. We don’t have all the specs and there’s no pricing information either so we’d be looking forward for some confirmation from the parties involved.

What’s even more interesting is the fact that the G60 might be the first LiMo-powered phone from Asus, but like I said, we have no confirmed facts so far.

Android to Arrive in HP Netbooks?

From what we hear HP is considering Android for its future netbooks. We’ve seen Android installed unofficially on other netbooks and MID but now it’s different. Satjiv Chalil, the vice president of HP’s PC division said that the company is in the process of assessing Google’s Android capabilities for its netbook line. Besides HP other netbook manufacturers are also rumored to play with Android for now. Asus and Dell might surprise us with new machines capable of running Android in the near future, including MIDs and smartphones.

The Asus Eee PC 1008HA or the Shell is an ultracompact netbook which seems ready to be shipped. Prices have been announced for the UK and the netbook will cost £359 when it will arrive in April. The netbook is packing Intel’s Atom N280 processor, a 10-inch LED backlit display, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard-drive, WiFi, Bluetooth and it measures only one-inch in thickness. Will we see the Shell sport the same prices in other markets too?

Remember that Fold/Unfold laptop from Asus? We have shown it to you a a while ago, during CES 2009, and now it looks like it will be available for sale. Jerry Shen, Asus‘ CEO said that the laptop is coming sometime in September to October and the final price would be “somewhere between $1,000 and $1,500.” We don’t have all the specs yet but there’s plenty of time for you to see if a Fold/Unfold laptop is the thing for you.

    RoBe:Do, Robots for Sale

What does this look like? It could easily be the great-great-great grandfather of Wall-E don’t you think? It’s called RoBe:Do, and it’s a robot powered by a 12V rechargeable NiMH battery and controlled by an Eee PC netbook. There are two models you can choose from, Coppa and Silvio which can be yours for only $1,649 or $1,449, respectively.

What can they do for all this money you wonder? Well, you’ll be surprised to learn that they are completely mobile and can be equipped with any number of gadgets that can be connected to the computer. They feature light sensors and lever arms which could come in handy for something. Question is, for what?

If you’re anywhere near CeBIT this time of year then you can go ahead and check Asus shiny new Eee toy. I am talking about the Eee PC 1008HA otherwise known as the Shell which is supposed to be an ultra-slim and ultra-portable netbook. It’s just 1-inch thick an it weighs only 2.4 pounds. The 10.1-inch netbook will probably have the usual netbook specs although we haven’t received confirmation for any of that. The Shell is surely bringing in 802.11n, Bluetooth, 3G and WiMax support and it’s packing Eee Sharing and Eee Arena software. So how much does one cost?
