Rumor has it Acer is planning a 3D laptop. According to Campbell Kan, VP of Acer’s mobile computing business unit, the 15.6-inch Aspire 3D notebook should arrive at the end of October 2009 and necessitate stereoscopic glasses in order for the 3D effect to be captured.

Initial applications for the visual technology will include 3D gaming and movies, and Acer will preinstall software that, it claims, is able to take 2D footage and convert it into 3D. The hardware has been collectively developed with Wistron, although beyond that Acer have given no indication as to whether it will use NVIDIA’s system.

  • Now here is a laptop that packs quite a punch but doesn’t exactly break the bank. Acer has recently announced it’s new Aspire 8930G.

Under the hood is a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 2GHz processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a GeForce 9700M GT complete with 512MB of video RAM, a 500GB hard drive and Vista Home Premium.

Also included is a Blu-ray/DVD Super Multi combo burner, WiFi connectivity, an 18.4 inch 1920×1080 LCD display with webcam, 6-in-1 media card reader and Dolby Home Theater sound.

  • Acer has added a new Consumer Desktop to their Lifestyle Line, named X3200. The computer is available in two configurations and its price starts at $680.

Both versions feature an AMD Phenom Triple-Core X3 processor, 4GB of RAM memory, and a NVIDIA GeFoce 8200 graphics card. The only difference seems to be the hard-drive that varies from 500GB to 640GB, and the inclusion of a 22-inch LCD.

  • The Acer Aspire AS5735-4624 is now being sold at BestBuy for a fair price - $400 after the savings. While the laptop has an average customer rating of 3.8 out of 5 on the Acer website, we must admit the price is good when looking at the technical details.

The low-cost laptop weights 2,6Kg and uses Windows Vista Home Premium as the operative system. It has all the goodies that a “normal” computer user needs, like WiFi + Ethernet LAN + 5-in-1 media card reader, and surprisingly it also has a vintage 56k modem, which I doubt anyone will ever use. With a screen size of 15.6-inches, this Aspire has a 16:9 aspect ratio and an uncommon 1366×768pixels resolution.

The engine of the Aspire AS5735-4624 is obviously an Intel, more exactly a Pentium T3200 dual core processor that runs at 2GHz.
