All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

There’s a new Samsung Armani phone in town, the SPH-W8200 and we have all the details about it. The slider phone will come equipped with a 3.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, a DMB TV tuner, 5-megapixel camera, HSDPA and Bluetooth connectivity and microSD support. This Armani phone doesn’t seem too bad does it? Unfortunately we can expect it to cost a lot more than any other similar phone that doesn’t happen to have a Giorgio Armani logo on top of it. In case you can’t afford it, there’s always the Omnia II which is an even better choice!

Fortunately, we did have an inkling as to what could be revealed come June 11, and if it takes a union between Samsung and Italian designer Giorgio Armani to churn out an actual fashionphone that’s smart too, we have no objections to it.  The OS in question is also pretty much confirmed with Microsoft’s name popping up in the press conference, but what remains to be seen is if the device will run Windows Mobile 6.5 or the current 6.1 version and what other goodies it hides other than the fashion points its bound to carry.  We will be here to find out and let you know when all is revealed this June 11.

Samsung is working on a new Armani Windows Mobile phone and according to Samsung Taiwan’s mobile marketing department director Ryu Jae-hyun, the new Samsung Armani phone will come with the latest Windows Mobile OS. Yes, that’s right folks, the new Armani phone will run on Windows Mobile 6.5 and it will probably arrive sometime in Q3. No news on features and pricing yet, but there’s plenty of time for Samsung to reveal them.

Well, it would be interesting to see what Armani and Samsung will be able to make of WM 6.5. But I don’t really have any big expectations here.

Helio Mystery Slider Leaks Over

The Helio in the picture here is a Helio slider phone which might or might not see the light of day. It is said it was made by Samsung based on the Samsung F400 and branded with B&O and Armani but we have no idea if Virgin or anyone else is going to pick this phone and launch it to the public. It’s also supposed to be multimedia-friendly but we didn’t have a chance to go over an official specs sheet.

I was wondering what Motorola has been doing lately. Just a couple of days ago I told you how Motorola seems to want to get into the Android business. While a Motorola device based on Google’s OS is a thing for the future, it doesn’t mean that current Motorola phones should be crappy and boring.

That’s the case of the Motorola Emporio Armani phone. From what I’ve seen in the picture I won’t like it. By the looks of it I also concluded it’s not going to be an must-have phone. After all would you use a cellphone which you don’t like? There aren’t any official news on pricing and availability dates, but as soon as I’ll find more I’ll pass it along.

We first laid our eyes on the Samsung SGH-F480 and its new TouchWiz interface back in MWC 2008. We were promised a April/May release date and true to their word, Samsung has announced that the 5-megapixel shooter is now headed to Europe. No word on availability in US, but considering that it is triband GSM designed for Europe and Asia, the phone would pretty much be a dud here anyways. With the new TouchWiz UI comes support for widgets, which can be dragged on to the home screen, which wasn’t available on its predecessor, the Croix 2.0 interface. Also available are 22 different vibrations which provide haptic feedback to the touch of a finger. Otherwise, the cell phone is basically the Samsung Armani with a 2.8-inch touchscreen, video messaging, email, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth connectivity, mobile blogging, and a 5-megapixel camera equipped with auto-focus as well as image stabilization.

The SGH-F480 will be released in the European market with a graduated release in other countries, most probably Asian.

Samsung P520 Phone by Armani

The Samsung P520 Armani phone has been officially unveiled during the Giorgio Armani fashion show. The phone has been described as credit card-sized and will be officially 10.5mm thick. Of course, everyone is expecting a thinner phone but that’s what Armani and Samsung are offering customers, besides being a full touch screen gadget.

Samsung and Armani have teamed up in other products as well including an LCD TV. According to Armani, “We make as much of a personal statement with the mobile phones that we carry or the televisions that we have in our living rooms as we do with the shoes and bags we wear or the furnishings we choose.”
