Archos has made a good move by presenting some details of their upcoming Android phone tablet, which will be release sometime in the near future… The first time we mentioned this phone was in Fevruary, so it shouldn’t be too long until we see it on the marketplace.
Anyhow, the sliding phone will feature a 4.3-inch touchscreen that provides a resolution of 854×480, and boasts a 1GHz processor which should be more than enough for the most memory-consuming tasks. In terms of size, it has 10mm of thickness which isn’t too bad. Sadly these are the only details that Archos revealed, at least for now.

Only a slight redesign which includes new locations for the speakers and headphone jacks headline the new Archos Internet tablets. Add to that the inclusion of a microSD slot, the Archos A5S and A5H include a ton of features that one would expect to get from mobile devices today. This includes:

Archos has scheduled a press conference in Paris for June 11 and everyone is suspecting that an Android tablet is going to be announced on that occasion. We’re assuming that the new Archos device will have a 5-inch screen, 500GB of storage, 7 hours of battery life, voice support, HSUPA connectivity, TV recording, HD playback, Adobe Flash support and an OMAP3440 processor.
However none of that has been confirmed yet and all the info we have so far comes from way back in February when TI leaked the 10-mm thin Archos Internet Media Tablet. The new device should arrive sometime in the third quarter for an undisclosed yet price.

It’s not only Android handsets that we’re waiting for this year. Archos is supposed to launch an Android MID and the device seems ready to arrive in July. The company openly declared that the Android MID is coming “at the start of Q3 2009″ but failed to mention official specs and prices. We’re expecting it to bring all those Archos multimedia applications combined with some phone capabilities.

Is it a phone? Is it a laptop? Is it a MID? Whatever it is, it’s made by Archos and it will supposedly run on Android. Archos might even go ahead and launch this one at the MWC.
The press release says this “Internet Media Tablet” will work as a phone too and it will use a new OMAP3 processor. We’re looking at a device that sports a 5-inch screen, up to 500GB hard drive, a battery capable of 7 hours of video playback and Flash support. Well it had me at 500GB hard drive. Now I’m really curious to see how it really looks like. Yeah, the picture doesn’t display the real thing yet. We’ll all have to wait until Q3 to get it but MWC might show it to us.
