What you see above is a recently leaked screen shot for the forthcoming Facebook 1.7 BlackBerry app. As you can see, the UI has been almost completely redesigned making for a much cleaner social networking experience.

According to BBNews.pl the update will be pushed out sometime this month and is said to include, among other things, the below features:

  • Ability to set filters for information displayed in your News Feed
  • Increased loading speed
  • View profile option

As of now, that’s all we have to go by so we’ll just have to wait until Facebook makes an official announcement.

RIM has today announced that users can now browse the BlackBerry App World from virtually any internet connected computer. While this doesn’t really serve any purpose other than to give people a look at what’s featured in the BlackBerry App World, it’s a welcome addition.

However, RIM does throw in the ability to email an app’s download link to your BlackBerry where you can then download the software, but that’s about as deep as integration goes.

Check out the BlackBerry App World here.

RIM has today announced that version 1.1.0.11 of their BlackBerry App World software is now available for download.

The key feature of this update is the ability to archive apps which means you will be able to save them to the device’s internal storage or an added memory card. You won’t be able to run apps right off the memory card instead only save them for later installation.

Head here to get the download and read more about it.

Are you a fan of RIM’s App World? Would you like to be able to talk about the BlackBerry store and the applications in it with all your Berry-owner friends? Well RIM has uncovered a new service for you. The company has created a social networking site, MyBlackBerry where users can sign-up and start discussing everything BlackBerry-related. For now there’s an invite-only policy going on but it should be available for everyone soon. In the mean time feel free to browse through it by following the link bellow as MyBlackBerry is now up and running!

The following news will leave a bitter sweet taste in your mouth. It’s not all good news but it isn’t that bad either. It looks like Verizon has finally caught up with the whole App Store trend and wants to launch one for itself. And considering its large subscribers base, I’m surprised Verizon hasn’t announced one earlier. But here’s where things take a turn for the worst. Apparently Verizon will not support any other App Store out there besides its own. That means Verizon customers will not have access to BlackBerry App World or Windows Mobile Marketplace right from the start. What’s even more disturbing is that developers will have to submit twice the same app for approval if they want to make sure that Verizon customers will purchase that certain app.

Verizon is promising a “competitive” revenue-sharing program and from what we hear, purchasing future Verizon apps will require no credit card entry. Payment will be done through the Verizon account of each customer. More details will be released on July 28 at the Verizon Developer Community Conference and we’ll deliver them right to your computer soon!

While Apple is preparing to celebrate its App Store first year of existence, the competition is still working hard on their own application stores. RIM for example has managed to get no less than 2,000 apps ready to be downloaded on your favorite BlackBerry phone. The number is pretty impressive although not comparable yet to what Apple has to offer. The BlackBerry App World service will be available in Europe soon and BlackBerry owners from Italy, France, Germany and Spain will be able to enjoy some of these apps sometime this month. How many apps have you installed so far on your BlackBerry phone?

Blackberry With ePay Device

Blackberry With ePay Device

USA ePay has announced that their Wireless ePay Credit Card Processing application can now be readily downloaded for free from BlackBerry’s App World in addition to as the Android Marketplace. BlackBerry users on any network can use App World, a somewhat new software service provided directly by BlackBerry, to load USA ePay’s Wireless ePay for BlackBerry application on their phones without having to plug their phones into their computer as needed in the past. The same applies to all Android Phone users and the Marketplace available on all models of those phones.

“These easy and free downloads allow USA ePay merchants to quick access our Wireless ePay application for their phones,” said CEO Ben Goretsky. “This is a big step forward since merchants don’t have to worry about wires and cables anymore to load their credit card app; they can literally do it from anywhere and anytime.” USA ePay’s Wireless ePay program is now available for the BlackBerry, Android phones and Windows Mobile phones. There you have it folks, I think I covered everything in that catchy title. But please allow me to elaborate. It looks like RIM will not allow any paid application that will cost less than $2.99. That’s weird in my book. Why pay more than a buck on an application that’s not worth it? How did they come up with this number? Why not $4.99? Have you purchased your first BlackBerry application yet? How is it working out for you? Hit us up with your App World experience so far!

RIM’s App World Goes Live Today

RIM is ready for the application business and its store, the App World, will go live starting today at 10:00PM EST. The chosen name should be a hit too. People are already familiar with Apple’s successful App Store, so an App World will be immediately linked to the applications-for-mobiles concept. Will RIM’s app store receive the same amount of traffic as the original idea? Tell us how you BlackBerry is handling the new applications!
