Android 1.6 to be Released Soon?

Android 1.6 or Donut might be on its way soon since it has already been spotted. It looks like Google is doing some house cleaning and fixing some important issues in the Android Market. Google has been working on a new interface and most importantly, it has announced that developers will now be allowed to add screenshots and improvements to the descriptions of their apps. This is quite a big deal and the new Android Market will be available together with Android 1.6 Donut.

If you love Amazon and Android phones then you should be checking out the Amazon App for Android which will bring the Amazon shopping experience straight to your mobile phone.

You can order stuff straight from your phone, track packages and browse the store for placing even more orders. The Amazon Remembers feature is a nice concept which lets you take a photo or even scan a bar code in order to add items on your list. And when you go to Amazon from your computer, you’ll be able to see those new items too.

When you’re ready to buy your favorite items you’ll notice how Amazon’s 1-Click settings will let you complete your purchase with one single click which is pretty convenient but pretty dangerous too. You should watch out for those insane shopping sprees which could wipe out all your savings instantly.

So, like I said before, in case you’re an Amazon frequent shopper and you also own an Android device then you should absolutely look for this application in the Android Market. In case you don’t fulfill the requirements above then you’ll probably not want this Android Amazon application.

Google has recently announced that they have launched a Google Voice mobile application for the Blackberry and Android mobile platforms.

If you were lucky enough to get an invite to the Google Voice service you should definitely check this out as it will let you place calls and send SMS with your Google Voice number as well as view voicemail transcripts.

To download the Android application just head to the Android Market and search for Google Voice. However, on the Blackberry just point your browser to m.google.com/voice and you’re good to go.

Android Market Ready for Action

T-Mobile’s G1 has been officially launched today and most buyers will be interested to check the Android Market. There are 50 apps are available for now but more are to follow.

Beginning on Monday, interested developers will have to register and pay a one time $25 application fee in order to make sure that they are authenticated and responsible for their applications. After that the programs will be available to users without any other validation or approval.

Next year, developers will be able to distribute paid applications in addition to free applications. As for revenue, developers will get 70% out of each sale, just like Apple developers.

  • Android Market Coming Soon?

Google is going to give Apple a run for its money. Like Apple’s App Store for the iPhone 3G and the iPhone touch, Google is going to have an Android Market which will be very similar. Future owners of Android devices will be able to purchase, download and install various applications from the Android Market.

T-Mobile is going to bring us the HTC Dream, the first Android cell phone but more are going to follow in 2009. That means the Android Market is going to have a guaranteed success and it might surpass in downloads the Apple App Store.

We don’t know any official dates for now but since the announcement has already been made we should assume things are going to be up and running soon.
