HTC Hero unboxed on video

We’ve seen the phone itself and we’ve seen its rather sexy Sense UI, but we haven’t seen is a proper unboxing of the device. What you see above is just that, an unboxing of the highly anticipated HTC Hero.

As you can see the unboxing features a pretty bland white box which is likely to chance once the handset hits retail.

After the HTC Hero’s unboxing, Android Community played around with the phone and came to a conclusion, “It’s perhaps the best Android device to-date”. That sure sounds promising.

UPDATE: There was a problem with the video so head here to watch the unboxing.

  • It seems that T-Mobile has recently announced that they are delaying the release of the Android 1.5 from May to June.

However, G1 owners need not be too discouraged as the updated was delayed just a week with a T-Mobile forum moderator by the name of Dominic giving the following statement:

We’d like to provide an update on the rollout of Android 1.5 for T-Mobile G1 customers.
We are working diligently to get Android 1.5 out as soon as possible, while aiming to ensure a consistent, positive experience for our customers. We’re finalizing the build this week to ensure optimal functionality and smooth delivery. Therefore, the rollout schedule has been reset by approximately a week, and we expect all G1 customers will have the update by early June.

Your device will notify you when the update is available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

So, mark your calenders, Android 1.5 will officially be released for the T-Mobile G1 in early June.

The European market is about to get three more Android handsets and they aren’t coming from HTC. Samsung is the maker and its first Android phones should all be launched in Europe by the end of the year. The first phone should be launched by June but we don’t have any details yet. At least one of them will come with full touchscreen support and we’re expecting Samsung to use Android 1.5 on it. Android 1.5 SDK has been unveiled to developers and we’ll be waiting for it to make its public appearance soon. Will Android 1.5 be ready by June? Will Samsung launch these three Android smartphones in other markets too? We will keep you posted once we find out more.
