American consumers who have been tracking the Omnia II’s every move will be happy to hear that the handset has recently made its way through the FCC.
The Omnia II is a Windows Mobile powered handset that features a touchscreen 3.7-inch AMOLED display, an 800MHz processor, 5MP camera with 720 x 480 video recording and a 7.2Mbps HSPA.
We’re not positive when it will actually be made available for purchase but considering the FCC model is specced for AT&T, I think it’s safe to say we’ll see the phone on said carrier soon enough.

The last time we saw it, the iPaQ K3 was what you would have expected if it were to compete with others in the smartphone category, but things seems to have changed slightly now and we are not sure if this will give the Obisidian an edge over its competitors. Apparently, HP has dropped the standard 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen display for a smaller, 2.46-inch 320 x 240 pixel AMOLED display and the camera is bettered now to a 3.2 megapixel lens against the 2-megapixel snapper listed on the initial leak. Other specs such as its GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, full QWERTY keypad, WinMo 6.5 OS, and microSD slot are still intact as are the 528MHz CPU with 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM. The release date of November 30 is also unchanged, so you’ll have to wait till then to lay your hands on this smartphone. Skip over for a few more pictures…

Verizon will launch a new Samsung handset soon, the Glyde 2. The phone hasn’t been officially unveiled yet but someone managed to snatch a picture of the Glyde 2 with Verizon’s logo all over it. We’re looking forward for some leaked specs too as we don’t have any idea what this Glyde 2 has to offer. According to rumors we can expect the phone to have an impressive AMOLED screen, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. What do you say Samsung? Verizon? Anyone willing to tell us more?

Samsung first announced their upcoming touch-screen touting handset Jet last week and already have found it to be a highly anticipated phone. Apparantly, Samsung woke up this morning to find that the Jet was pre-ordered a none-too-shabby 2 million times marking the highest pre-order quota Samsung has ever come face-to-face with.
For those who don’t know, or have forgot, the Jet features a beautiful 3.1-inch AMOLED touch-screen along with an 800MHz processor and 3.6Mbps HSDPA support. Additionally it will have a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, DivX and XviD support and of course a full HTML Samsung designed web browser.
With 2 million pre-orders there has to be some one out there that is anxiously awaiting the Jet’s upcoming release date, let us know.

If you were bummed about the Samsung Jet’s US availability you have no worries because the almost identical looking Omnia II (pictured above) was just announced. This handset will be the successor to the Omnia and will feature specs identical to what was leaked earlier this month.
Samsung’s Omnia II will feature a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen with resistive touch, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with Samsung’s TouchWiz 2.0 UI, the ability to playback and record 480p video, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, Wi-Fi and up to 48GB of storage.
Now considering Samsung’s original Omnia was on Verizon I think it’s safe to assume the Omnia II will also make its way to the carrier at some point in the near future.

No it’s not an iPhone or a Palm Pre, hell it’s not even running Android, but instead it’s Samsung’s previously unannounced Jet. This phone came seemingly out of no where but from the looks of the specs its shaping up to be an amazing device.
The phone features an 800MHz processor (as compared to the iPhone 3G S‘ 600Mhz) a 5MP camera, a 3.1-inch touchscreen AMOLED display, A-GPS, 2GB/8GB of internal storage with a microSD slot for an additional 16GB and last but not least a Samsung developed Webkit-touting web browser entitled Dolfin. OS wise its said to be running TouchWiz 2.0 which is a Samsung developed UI hoping to make for a more immersive and intuitive experience.
Now unfortunately there is no word on if we will ever see the Samsung Jet hit stateside but if/when it does its sure to generate quite the buzz. You can get more information on the Samsung Jet, courtesy of Samsung USA, here.

Samsung is proud to announce their newest AMOLED display that features a WVGA resolution of 800 x 600, 4 times more clarity than your average display and 300 pixels per inch.
The South Korean manufacturer is also touting this display as consuming less power while sporting improved brightness. Sounds like my kind of display.
There is currently no word on when these beautiful displays will actually be available in market-ready handsets but lets hope its sooner rather than later.
