FCC has revealed a new Alcatel phone that just passed through its tests. And why shouldn’t it, when it’s branded Miss Sixty and sports scarlet red and bright gold as its colors, right? The Miss Sixty phone, we’ll call it that until we know more, may be dressed alright, but in other areas, it seems equipped to barely make the entry-level segment with GSM/GPRS 850/1900 network support, Bluetooth with A2DP, MicroSD expansion, a WAP browser, what is most likely a VGA camera, and a multimedia player. But you do get to dial on gold-colored keys and rock to your favorite tunes on a matching headphone set, if it’s any consolation. No idea on the when or the where, but we are sure we haven’t heard the last of it.

Alcatel has sprung quite a pleasant surprise this time. We have seen many low-range Alcatel cellphones make an appearance from time to time but this round, the OT-S988W is a smartphone that can put many of the other devices in the same segment to shame. Running Windows Mobile 6.1, the device has a Qualcomm 528MHz helped along by 256MB RAM and an equal amount of ROM and has support for China Unicom’s newly unveiled WO 3G network. Also crammed in are a GPS receiver, WiFi, Bluetooth, a QWERTY keyboard, and yet another surprise, a 3.5mm headphone jack. Headed for China Unicom in the near future at an unknown price, and we should know better than to expect something this good to appear Stateside.

Some weeks ago we caught a glimpse of the Lego Camera. This time around, a Lego-themed phone has been released, fully functional and customizable.
Some recent photos have leaked out on popular tech blogs, revealing that the Lego phone is reality, and is the result of a partnership between Digital Blue, Alcatel, and the brick king itself.
The Lego phone will consist of a base structure containing the body and display of the handset. A series of modular attachments can be snapped on – likely just for color variation as opposed to changing the functionality of the handset to some extent.
These functional toys would appear as though they had been built from Lego bricks and would all fall into an affordable $20 – $60 price range.

It’s not the first time we check Alcatel cellphone for a real cheap price, remember the OT-S520 that only cost $30? Well, this time it is O2 Wireless along with Locus Telecommunications that will offer another low-entry handset.
It is named Alcatel 206 and is simply a bar-shaped cellphone that will have a price tag of $20. Additionally, it comes with 50 free minutes of talk-time after activating the cards. If you want to offer someone a basic yet functional cellphone, the 206 is a good option.

For those satisfied with the basic functions of cell phone in a cell phone, Alcatel has introduced a new low-end candybar, the OT-S211. Although the price isn’t revealed, this could very well serve as your secondary phone to go along with your higher-end ones. This pudgy guy can make/receive calls and has a 250-name memory for contacts. Nothing flashy connectivity-wise, but the phone does have T9 dictionary to speed those short messages. The standard alarm clock and calculator are also included and Alcatel has thrown in a game to play when you need a break.
Details about pricing or availability are elusive right now, but am sure the OT-S211 will fit right into anybody’s budget.

Alcatel’s latest handset supports 1.3 megapixel camera, 10MB onboard memory and media player. Delivering full-screen video playback the cell phone has microSD card slot for extendable memory. Sporting Playboy logo, the headset comes with metallic rear-panel. Alcatel can be good but I am crazy for Nokia.

With the increasing rate of stolen corporate mobile devices and laptops, Sprint and Alcatel-Lucent is teaming up to offer a solution to ease IT headaches and provide control over data maintained on end-user laptops.
Sprint is going to launch one of the first comprehensive laptop security service s for businesses. SprintSecure Laptop Guardian enables 24/7 security through remote monitoring, location and locking if a laptop is lost or stolen, helping to increase productivity of mobile staff and simplify security management since all capabilities are delivered over-the-air to the laptop anywhere on the nationwide Sprint Mobile Broadband network.
The solution utilizes a unique Mobile Broadband connection card that serves as a two-factor authentication device. The card itself is an ignition key; the user must insert the card into the laptop to access to his/her laptop. The same card can be controlled by an enterprise IT administrator to remotely revoke authentication privileges always rendering control over the laptop and, more importantly, the corporate data on the laptop.
SprintSecure Laptop Guardian is powered by the Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess 3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian, a revolutionary laptop security and management system introduced earlier this year. SprintSecure Laptop Guardian is packaged with high-speed data access via Sprint Mobile Broadband to allow enterprises to manage laptops nearly anywhere, anytime.
