The Storm isn’t the only hot phone available from Verizon Wireless these days. Come to think of it you’re more likely to find an HTC Touch Pro than a Storm these days.

The Touch Pro is available on Verizon’s website and that’s where you can order one. It’s a little more expensive than Sprint’s or AT&T’s:

  • $349 after a $70 MIR and 2-year contract
  • $419 after $70 MIR and a 1-year contract
  • $539 with no contract

Luckily customers eligible for an NE2 upgrade can get an additional $50 to $100 off those prices. So what do you think? What shall it be? A Storm or an HTC?

HTC Max 4G Video Preview

The HTC Max 4G we’ve shown you earlier this week will make its way to WiMAX ready networks, like the Russian Yota. The video above will give you a preview of what the Max 4G is all about but it’s the language you won’t understand. The comparison between the iPhone and the Max 4G should be pretty clear right? At least we get to see it on video as we won’t see it live soon in our non-WiMAX network.

  • As the title goes you just might be able to imagine where I am heading. You all know HTC right? And what a year they had so far! Well HTC has just announced their latest smartphone, the HTC Max 4G, which will support both GSM and WiMax networks. The phone will run on Windows Mobile 6.1. Professional and it will have the TouchFLO interface on board too.

Here some of its specifications: a 3.8 inch, 480×800 touchscreen, 2 high-resolution camera with autofocus, 8GB internal memory, a built in GPS receiver and much more. It will support tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900MHz) and dual-band WiMAX (2500/2700MHz). It’s almost like a HTC Touch HD with WiMAX support!

It’s going to be available starting with November 26th, but only in Russia’s Yota network. Is Sprint going to pick it up soon?

  • The Fuze is on its way and you’re going to see it soon in an AT&T store. The HTC slider will arrive on November 11 and it will cost $499 when chosen without a contract or $299 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract. What do you think about the pricing? Isn’t it too expensive? Even with a contract you get a smartphone which is more expensive than the G1 or the upcoming Storm.

  • The G1 is going places! After being announced for the American and UK market, the phone will make it’s way to China. HTC will take the G1 to the Asian and Pacific markets and China will see it by July 2009. We’d be curious to see if the G1 gets the same treatment the iPhone got. HTC doesn’t have an official confirmation of a G1 smartphone specifically designed for the Chinese market but I’m sure they’d love to get there before Apple does.

  • While we heard Dan Hesse’s opinion on the Android OS yesterday, today we have time to focus on HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou, who also happens to be one of the founders of the company. He says that HTC will be shipping 600,000 G1 units this year. For 2008 he has an estimate so far but for 2009 he says that “in general, we think we can do more next year.”

What do you think T-Mobile? Are you ok with just 600,000 units sold? Do you plan on getting more G1s out there? And let’s not forget that the holiday season is going to be upon us soon!

The G1 is the hottest handset out there right now but it still has some problems. We’ve seen yesterday that POP3/IMAP mail doesn’t fully work and today we found out there’s a security flaw inside the web browser which could prove to be really harmful to your device.

A researcher, Charles A. Miller says the flaw could be exploited when a user goes to a malicious website. Malicious code can use the flaw to install software on the G1 which will do only bad things after. Google knows about this whole thing and it’s working on it. It’s been reported that there’s already a patch ready and T-Mobile G1 owners will get it OTA soon.

Today is the day the G1 becomes officially available in T-Mobile stores. No more waiting, no more being sorry for nor pre-oderding. We’re ready to see some lines in front of T-Mobile’s stores. In case you’re standing in a T-Mobile line, then please drop us a picture to prove it. We’d surely love to see that happening.

In case you didn’t feel like waking up at 8AM this morning just to buy an Android phone then you can order it online. The price is the same, $179.99 with a two-year contract.

  • AT&T managed to leak its plans for the winter season and it looks like no Bold is coming soon. RIM’s phone should finally hit the U.S. market later this year but we don’t have any official dates yet. Besides the BlackBerry which looks like it will never arrive, we have the following phones:

    Pantech Matrix: $80 after MIR
    Samsung Propel:$80 after MIR
    AT&T Quickfire: $100 after MIR
    Samsung Eternity: $150 after MIR
    Samsung EPIX: $200 after MIR
    LG Incite: $200 after MIR
    HTC Fuze: $300 after MIR

We’ll be back for more launch details when we have them. Until such time please feel free to fantasize about any of the above mentioned handsets.

  • The HTC Touch HD is one of my favorite HTC devices. It has a 3.8 inch touchscreen phone which was recently released by HTC. People say that this Touch HD is being modeled to become an Android handset too for T-Mobile. It’s even referred to as the G2 although there’s nothing official to support these rumors.

With all this in mind I can’t help but think about HTC’s official Twitter from a few days ago which clearly said that the Touch HD is not officially coming to the USA. What do you think?

    HTC T8290 Knows WiMAX

If I am not mistaking, I believe we told you a while ago about HTC getting ready to release one Android device and one WiMAX device by the end of the year. Well what do you know? We have the HTC Dream or the G1 which is the first Android phone. And now we have the T8290 which is a WiMAX HTC Touch.

From what we can figure out it’s a 3.8 inch 480 x 800 WVGA display, WiMAX and GSM support, 802.11g WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0.

How much it costs and when it is going to be available it’s still a mystery. For now the phone has Russian language written all over it so we’re going to wait for HTC official news.

  • Why won’t the HTC Touch HD arrive in the USA? That’s a good question. It looks like no carrier seems interested in getting it. I can’t understand why, since the phone might be one of their top thee phones of this year. Sure you can get the device from some other country. But would you trade the 3G support?

And HTC isn’t saying that much either. The company’s idea of a good press release is Twitter. I think HTC used far too many words than it was needed to deliver this message:

Sad news, US. we looked into it- by the time we could bring Touch HD to the States, it would be old news. We do have other cool stuff coming.

  • You might be lucky enough to have pre-ordered the G1 in time. Or you might be just like the rest of us, waiting for October 22nd to buy it in store. In any case you probably want a taste of that Android OS mounted on the HTC Dream as soon as possible.

T-Mobile has a G1 emulator for you to play with. Sure it doesn’t have all the functions of the real thing but you can still get a general idea of how stuff works. Don’t bother complaining about various issues and bugs you might spot along the way. It’s just an emulator for now. You’ll get the chance to complain later on about the real thing.

    T-Mobile to Launch Shadow 2

After announcing the HTC Dream aka the G1, T-Mobile is ready to launch one more HTC device. HTC Shadow 2 is the logical successor of the Shadow.

Shadow 2 will be the first handset to come with Windows Mobile 6.1 with UMA capabilities and T-Mobile is set to launch it on October 15. As long as you’re going to sign a new contract you’ll get it for $149.99 after some mail-in rebate. Hopefully we’ll get more specs by then. In the mean time I’ll let you dream about this baby.

HTC Rose Gets Approved by the FCC

The HTC Rose or S740 has been approved by the FCC. The Rose is one of the last handsets made by HTC. It’s Windows Mobile handset like all recent HTC devices, excepting the Dream of course. The rose comes with a hybrid keybad/keyboard, GPS, WiFi and a 3.2 megapixel camera. Think of it like a modified HTC Touch. Add a slide-out full keyboard and a keypad and you get the Rose. You’d also have to remove the touchscreen to get a Rose. That last part you might not like!

The Rose is ready to be sold in the USA. All it needs now is some 3G support for the US since it only has quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GSM/EDGE for now. Let’s see what carrier will pick this one up!

  • After T-Mobile and HTC have finally proven that the Android OS is working properly on a phone, more manufacturers and carriers will want to sell their own Android powered smartphones.

We’ve seen Motorola expanding it’s Android project and now it’s Samsung and LG ready to commit to creating an Android phone each in 2009. Both companies are likely to launch their Android handsets by Q3 of 2009 but not sooner. Mirae Asset Securities says the delay is caused by carriers like Vodafone which are skeptic about Google’s OS, although that’s not a confirmed, official statement. Does that mean that not everyone is thrilled about the Android?

  • HTC is a hot cell phone manufacturer. Besides the HTC Touch Diamond which was a hit handset in various markets, the company has launched various equally good smartphones. Their most expected phones was the HTC Dream made for T-Mobile. You know, the Google phone or the G1.

It looks like the G1 was very well received by the public and especially by T-Mobile’s subscribers. G1 has already sold out during the pre-order period which means we might expect some iPhone-like lines in front of T-Mobile stores when the G1 arrives.

If you want numbers, people say that about 60,000 G1 units have been sold already. HTC plans to sell about 700,000 units this year and we might see that number easily surpassed.

Well well T-Mobile, you sure have an Amazon store ready for your future customers. There are 6 million DRM-free songs available which is quite nice. But how are we to listen to it? It’s been reported that there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack available.

So who’s fault is it? T-Mobile’s? Google’s? Well last time I checked, the manufacturer was HTC. It seems that’s an old problem with the HTC. They tend to forget about the music jack in their models. The Touch HD is the only exception so far.

That means you should buy an USB dongle to mediate a connection between your faithful headphones and the G1. And the adapter won’t arrive by the time the G1 gets released.

Do you think Amazon should be a little pissed off by all this? I mean they will be loosing some money for a while right? Why buy songs you can’t listen to anyway?
