Alltel is the next carrier in the U.S. to launch an HTC device this year. The HTC Touch Pro is their chosen device and it’s said it will be coming in the near future. We’d like to know what a near future looks like. What are the prices for an Alltel HTC Touch Pro?

The leaked photo above is the only proof which supports such a launch as there’s no official announcement for Alltel. Or Verizon for that matter.

Verizon Wireless might not be your favorite carrier but it sure is the best when it comes to customer support. J.D. Power and Associates have finished their latest Wireless Customer Care Performance Study and they say Verizon Wireless is top of the class with Alltel, T-Mobile and AT&T left behind.

The most important thing in Verizon’s way of dealing with issues is its ability to solve a problem in a single call. Hold times are higher 34% since 2003 but people seem to be willing to wait more if a solution is right around the corner. The study was based on responses from about 11,000 people.

What say you? How is your carrier’s customer care department doing?

Alltel Wireless has something new for all photographers out there. As long as you have a camera phone from Alltel, you will be happy to enjoy the new MyShow service. Alltel launched MyShow which is the first user-generated mobile slideshow applications. Is MyShow a Flickr-like app? Most likely it is, but let’s see how we can use it and how much it costs.

MyShow will turn into slideshows your selected pictures. You can add music and personalized text to go along with all those pictures. You can set up MyShow widgets to show your slideshows anywhere on the internet. It’s the perfect application to share your content with your far away friends or family. The service doesn’t come free, but it doesn’t cost that much. MyShow comes for $3.99/month form their Alltel Shop.

MyShow comes to complete Alltel’s photo-oriented products. Alltel already offers Alltel Pic Transfer, which uploads photos from the phone to a PC or social media site; Kodak Mobile Link, which lets you check out personal photos stored online in your Kodak Gallery and Fujifilm Mobile Postcards which lets you send a personal photo greeting through US mail to anyone you want.

So did you get that unlimited plan from Virgin Mobile? You know, the one we were talking about last week? I’ll take your silence as a No! Good! You can sign up with Alltel and get one of their My Circle plans. Basically you can chose 5, 10 or 20 numbers to talk all you want. That’s unlimited calling with any number from any other American network.

I thought that Alltel are simply going to wait to get acquired by Verizon Wireless. But they sure aren’t. We’ve just learned a couple of days ago that they are going to expand their EVDO Rev A. network coverage and today we hear their going to offer WiFi service to all those interested.

Alltel isn’t happy with their current Rev. A network and they have just announced they will be upgrade it in the following months. 18 new markets will be added to their current count in the next 6 months. We’ve seen how AT&T went all full HSPA in all their markets so Alltel’s efforts to expand their high speed network come right in time.

A little birdie up in the sky called the CNBC reports that Verizon is in “in deep in talks to acquire Alltel“. How deep the talks I wouldn’t be able to say, but Alltel is ranked as the 5th American carrier so there’s no surprise Verizon is insisting on this purchase.

There’s no official comments yet which might indicate exactly that deepness of their talks. If this goes through, Verizon Wireless will have to wire no less than $27 billion to Alltel.

Do you have a gazillion of picture stuck in your cell phone? I know I used to. The CD software which came with my cell phone wouldn’t run on my computer, so the result was that I got a stack of pictures which I can’t transfer at all unless I did through Bluetooth or infrared. Even then it required a bit of my time. Alltel Wireless’s new service called the “PhotoCopter” eliminates the need to worry about image transfer from the cell phone. You simply take pictures and that’s it.

The service was launched in cooperation with Ontela, owner of Photobucket.com. Basically, this Alltel feature is as straightforward as it can get. You take a picture and it appears on the My Pictures folder of your computer. However, you can also choose to upload it to Photobucket, Blogger, Snapfish, and Flickr. For now, the service is limited to Alltel customers using Motorola V3m, V3a, V9m and ROKR handsets for US$2.99 per month.

Samsung%20Muse.jpgLast January, Alltel advertised the availability of three new cell phones in its line up by the time Q1 ‘08 ends. Among the three phones is the Samsung Muse which, despite its name, is actually quite ordinary. The Samsung Muse is a classic clamshell music phone with a dedicated music control, a 2-megapixel camera, microSD slot, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS, and get this — high-speed EVDO connection. It only costs US$90, so despite it being ordinary, it’s actually not too bad.

If you’re the kind who can’t exist with no called ID feature, you’d like Alltel’s City ID feature. But it’s not just you. Alltel just boasted announced that said feature is now loaded to 2 Million Alltel handsets across the US. The embedded call feature has the ability to display the city and the state of an unknown number calling your cell phone. Alltel can recognize any number from 20,000 cities in North America.

“Customers frequently do not recognize an incoming phone number and City ID provides additional information to help customers decide if they want to answer the call,” said Scott Bergs, senior vice president of customer solutions for Alltel Wireless. “Customer response to this unique application has been extremely positive due to the control it gives subscribers.”

The City ID feature offers a 15-day free trial, after which it’s available for a monthly subscription of $1.99. The latest to feature the City ID is the new LG Glimmer.

If you’ve been using (and abusing, which is understandable) Alltel Wireless‘ ‘My Circle,’ then you might find it in your favor that Alltel Wireless is expanding their My Circle features. If before, you’ve been tied to their “My Circle 10,” which allows you to designated 10 numbers on any network to which you can make unlimited calls, Alltel Wireless now allows you to lessen or to add to that number with their new “My Circle 5″ and “My Circle 20″ options. Like before, My Circle 10 will be available to subscribers for a USD$59.99 rate plan while My Circle 5 would let you make unlimited calls to 5 numbers for USD$49.99 and My Circle 20 would allow you up to a whopping 20 numbers for USD$99.99. This move by Alltel Wireless will is a sure fire way to get customers into the My Circle crazy especially since the service allows you to add not only cell phone numbers but also landline.

alltel.jpgWe can only imagine how mobile technology would be like in the future. As of late, humans keep finding new ways to make our lives easier (and in the process, turn us all into lazy bums). When SpinVox came out with the Voicemail to Text conversion technology, we all knew various companies would start jumping on the bandwagon. Sure enough, Arkansas-based Alltel Corporation launched its Voice2TXT service last Friday, December 14, 2007.

It would cost all Alltel subscribers an extra $4.99 for 20 conversions per month and for 100 conversions — $19.99. According to SpinVox, their technology could translate not only English but also German, French and Spanish. For $4.99 a month, it’s worth taking a spin even just for the heck of it, don’t you think? If Alltel holds a concert for this new addition, people would surely be more enamored into trying it out.
