All The Latest Cell Phone, Gadget and Tech News

It feels like only yesterday I was telling you about the last Nokia 8800. Oh, wait a minute, I did do that! Nokia 8800 Gold Arte was the last 8800 we knew about at the time. Today however we found out there’s a Goldstriker 8800 from Nokia. The Princess Edition will be released in January and it will cost £12,000. I guess those 8.2 carat diamonds, the platinum and the leather finish are pretty expensive. Make sure you head to Paris at the Colette store to get a Princess Edition when it will be available next year.

  • Nokia has another slider phone for those of you with expensive taste. The 8800 Gold Arte wears a mix of 18-carat gold and white leather. It will make an impression wherever you’d go. And it’s not the looks that impress but its personality to. It comes with 3G, 4GB of flash memory available, an OLED display and a not too bad 3.2 megapixel camera. Would you like a Gold Arte for Christmas? Unfortunately we don’t know how much it will cost and when it will arrive. Christmas 2009 then?

  • Samsung Pixon to Arrive from AT&T

The Samsung M8800L will arrive to the USA and according to the FCC it will be ready to connect to that AT&T 3G network. That’s the Pixon phone right there, packing that 8 megapixel camera which we have talked about before.

Version L is similar to the European model but it has support for the 850 and 1900 MHz WCDMA bands. When will it arrive and how much will it cost? That’s still a mystery to be unraveled.

  • Nokia 8800 gets 112 Diamonds

Another fine example that jewelry and tech can mix, albeit at a price. Norwegian jeweler Thomas Heyerdahl teams up with Nokia to push out a limited-edition Nokia 8800, a device which has seen its fair share of bling. This time a 100 lucky Nokia 8800 cell phones will get the chance to wear diamonds, again, 112 of them to be precise. Other than diamonds, the Nokia 8800 Diamond offers the same 3G support, a 2.0-inch 16m QVGA display, a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera, and 1GB built-in memory space.

At $6000, we never expected it to come cheap. Look for it at select Nokia distributors and Heyerdahl stores in Canada this month.

Over at the Nokia headquarters in Finland, the Nokia 8800 Arte and Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte were unveiled for the fashion-conscious. The new models bring in 3G capabilities to the stylish Nokia 8800 series. Featuring a 2.0 inch QVGA 240×320 pixels, organic-LED display, both the devices are equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera offering 8x digital zoom. While there’s no support for external memory, they come with 1GB of storage.

For data sync, the Nokia 8800 Arte and Sapphire Arte also offer a microUSB connector. An anti-fingerprint coating on the metal and glass ensure that your device stays shiny throughout its life. Tap below the display to see an analogue clock (personally, I love analogue clocks - it’s faster to calculate time differences that way). On the 8800 Ante, there’s a unique turn-to-mute feature: to silence the handset when it is ringing, simply turn it over (screen-side down).

    Pricing and availability:

  • Nokia 8800 Arte: €1000, in Q4 2007
  • Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte: €1150, in Q1 2008 (more…)
