Way back in October of last year we first heard of Sonim’s ultra rugged XP3 handset. However, it’s yet to find a carrier to call home.
Well, e device still hasn’t found a phone but it is available now, unlocked, for purchase in the US at $400. Don’t expect to many features out of this phone as it’s not a high-end smart phone or anything of the sort, but it does include a 3MP camera, GPS, Bluetooth
Did I mention it could hold up against even the brutal of beatings?

It seems that Vertu isn’t the only one targeting the extremely rich/extremely luxurious crowd as Motorola too has an offering: the Ivory E18, pictured above.
Before the development of the Ivory E18 was called off, it was said to feature a 3MP and a slider with 2 positions, one for just the navigation buttons and one for the full keypad.
As for a price, well, Motorola took a hint from Vertu there too as it was estimated to be close to $3,000. This high price caused with lack of carrier interest led to the phones demise. Does anyone actually buy these?

If you’re currently a T-Mobile customer and are on the market for a full touch-screen device but have decided not to opt for the myTouch 3G, perhaps you should check out Samsung’s recently announced Highlight handset.
Pictured above, this handset features all of the most sought after features such as an ultra-thin design, 3MP camera with digital zoom and video recording capabilities, stereo blutooth, a microSD slot, A-GPS, HSDPA and a music player with support for MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+ files. Additionally, the Samsung Highlight will be available in two color schemes; fire and ice (red and blue?).
So, be sure to keep an eye out for the Samsung Highlight on T-Mobile later this month.

LG has recently come forth and announced their latest smartphone, the GM550 (pictured above).
This phone has pretty much everything you would expect from a modern smartphone: Windows Mobile 6.1, full QWERTY keyboard, 3MP camera, 2.4-inch display, 7.2Mbps HSDPA and a 1300 mAh battery.
Unfortunately there is no word on pricing or availability but even if it hits overseas first its “global 3G” will give US users the ability to use it on virtually any carrier they choose.

Alltell and LG are proud to announce the LG iX840 Tritan, a handset that might actually garner some interest in the not-so-popular carrier.
As you can see above, the LG Tritan features a sleep design along with a sliding QWERTY keyboard. Couple this with the phone’s 3″ touch-screen, full internet browser and 3G connectivity, a 3MP camera with auto-focus and optical zoom and you have yourself a very very nice device.
Alltel says that they will offer the Tritan for $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. Any takers?
