Sprint has divulged that come October 11, the HTC Hero will be made available to the public for $179.99 after rebates. The HTC Hero that Sprint will be unveiling is the chinless model along with features that include the Exchange Active Sync, Sense UI and Sprint TV. The HTC Hero is the first wireless device offering a combination of the Android platform with the high-speed connectivity of America’s most dependable 3G network.

For the people who are planning to get the HTC Hero, pre-registration is now ongoing at the Sprint website.

And you know what happens when too many people are downloading too much stuff over a 3G network? The 3G networks get overwhelmed while the porn industry is flourishing. It looks like KDDI and DoCoMo have too many porn-loving smartphone owners that would be ready to pay up to $105 to access their favorite sites from their mobile phone or laptop. Are we to expect the same phenomenon to occur in other markets as soon as people start getting more and more data plans and new smartphones?

A Network Extender has been released by Verizon Wireless in an effort to boost cell phone reception. Apparently, many consumers are having some issues as far as cell phone reception is concerned and with this piece of hardware, they can expect better coverage and signals. The best part of it is that Verizon will not charge additional for it.

The Verizon Network Extender is essentially a mini-cell tower that works by using a customer’s existing broadband Internet connection to provide coverage in an area up to 5,000 square feet. The femtocell, which is made by Samsung, can also enhance the ability to send text messages, surf the mobile Web, and download e-mail, but it doesn’t support 3G speeds on Verizon’s 3G network.
