Did you do any shopping today? Managed to snatch quite a few deals? Well this Sunday Wal-Mart will start selling the iPhone 3G in about 2,500 stores. The prices are no mystery anymore. You still need the AT&T agreement and an 8GB model will sell for $197 while a 16GB model will sell for $297.
Gary Severson, Wal-Mart senior vice president of entertainment said:
We are delighted to bring customers this ground-breaking mobile technology. Our electronics associates have been preparing for many weeks for the arrival of iPhone 3G.
How come Wal-Mart hasn’t offered more that just $2 off AT&T’s price? Anyone interested in answering that question?

It took the iPhone Dev Tream only a couple of days to break the new iPhone 2.2 firmware but I guess they have gotten used to doing that already. You can get your version today. Go for QuickPwn if you have a Windows PC or choose the new Pwnage Tool for Macs.
The iPhone Dev Team said they did break the beta 2.2 which means breaking the final version must have been a walk in the park. As always make sure you know what you’re doing when jailbreaking your iPhone and back up everything that needs to be backed up first.

If China is not quite ready for the iPhone 3G well then Taiwan is. Chunghwa Telecom is the carrier which has reached an agreement with Apple and it will sell the phone this December. The carrier is the largest in Taiwan so getting the iPhone must have been inevitable.
We don’t have all the hot prices and plans but until now an 8GB model was sold anywhere from $667 to $755. Those were of course unofficially imported handsets.

Can you believe the iPhone phenomenon this year? Of course you can and probably you’re tired of it! Everyone has designed small special somethings for the iPhone 3G. We’ve all gotten used to those petite accessories for our phones, but these cases here might beat them all. The Handwoven Series brings you 4 styled iPhone cases you can choose from: crystal, midnight, raspberry and marine.
It’s not just going to make your iPhone look prettier but it’s probably also going to outlive you, due to the fact that one such case is made of a durable high quality case with hydrocarbon polymer technology. It protects you iPhone from dust, scratches or other damage and has an ultra clear and highly glossy surface ensuring you of a quite unique and special outlook. I wonder if it will come in BlackBerry Storm too…
One costs $22.99 and it will be shipped to you wherever you might live on this tiny planet.

Boy did we cover the whole tethering-your-iPhone idea, or what? After NetShare got canceled from the App Store, there was no official tethering program. Sure you could always jailbreak your phone and then use various programs out there. But Apple and AT&T didn’t support any of them.
In a recent interview, Ralph De La Vega, AT&T Mobility CEO, admitted the fact that the carrier is working on tethering your iPhone. We’d like to learn more about AT&T’s intentions. Are we going to see special tethering plans? Probably yes. Will people pay more to tether their handset? That’s what I suspect so far.

Let me start off this post by making you aware of the fact that we don’t encourage not endorse any porn activity on any of the mobile gadgets we bring you everyday. However we should keep you informed on everything that goes around in the mobile business.
Having said that, it’s safe now to let you know that people have taken and will take advantage of any cool gadget for porn related activities. That’s the case of the iPhone, but I am sure they’ll do the same thing with the G1 or the upcoming Storm.
Xgoes.mobi is an iPhone only web address where you can sign up for some prepaid webcam access. I haven’t tried it but people say you’re going to get some bad quality videos of “sad girls on ugly bedspreads”. I guess the choice is yours.

In case you’re not a Safari Mobile fan you’re probably looking for alternative solutions to go online from your iPhone. Well we have some bad news for you. Apple wants you to use its browser. Opera Mini hasn’t been allowed into the App Store which means you won’t be able to get it working on your iPhone or iPod touch yet. Will it be available for jailbroken iPhones? Opera fans will certainly be waiting for that to happen.

AT&T sold quite a lot of iPhones this last quarter. With 2.4 million iPhones sold, AT&T has managed to sell almost a third of the 6.9 million handsets that Apple reported to have sold.
That means the carrier saw profits rise 5.5% to $3.23 billion or 55 cents a share, compared to one year ago when AT&T pulled in $3.06 billion, or 50 cents a share. AT&T finished the quarter with 74.9 million subscribers with 2 million of those new subscribers. 40% of the 2.4 million iPhone 3G subscribers are new subscribers.
And iPhone subscribers are bringing in lots of money. Average monthly revenues per subscriber or ARPUs are 1.6 times higher for iPhone subscribers than the the other subscribers. AT&T saw its wireless data revenues increase with 50.5% compared to last year for a total of $2.7 billion.
So given that you have lots of money and lots of iPhone sales, when are you going to sell the Bold already?

The iPhone is ready to rock your Halloween evening. Or should I better say that the iPhone Jack-O-Lantern is. There’s an application called Crazy Pumpkin which will let you customize your iPhone. Just be careful what you do with it. It might get you a treat, but it could get you some tricks. Check out the video above and go get the application if it seems cool enough for you! I only need to find a way to carry that pumpkin on my belt now!

There’s no point for drums, suspense or than many applause. The iPhone is the device that won the 2008 Gadget of the Year, Best Mobile Technology, Most Stylish Technology and Technological Innovation of the Year at the British Technology Awards. Well, I guess that the Touch Diamond, the G1, the Touch HD, the Bold and the Storm can’t compete with the iPhone, can they? No matter if you’re and iPhone fan or not, I’m sure you would have liked other devices to get some of those awards right?
On the other hand, and I am counting on your negative feedback on this, the iPhone has set new standards for mobile technology. No matter how good are all the other touchscreen phones out there, they have been inspired from Apple’s idea. Let those of you without sin throw the first stone at me!

Zagg has a unique iPhone case meant to protect the device. It’s called invisibleShield and it looks much better than your regular bulky case. Wearing one on your iPhone would make others think that your iPhone is still naked.
The invisibleShield is not that easy to install. You need to be patient enough to apply the the pieces of film on the whole surface of the iPhone. Wonder how easy to peel of the film if you want to change you case.
With invisibleShield your iPhone is going to be scratch-free but the film isn’t shock resistant, so don’t drop it! Depending on what you want to protect, prices vary from $14.95 for the front to $18.95 for the whole thing.

The South Park is coming to the iPhone as an application. I am not talking about the South Park shows since these are already available to watch online for free. And you would do that from your PC instead of tiring your eyes against the iPhone screen. Although when on the road, streaming a South Park video would be totally whack!
Using the application you will be able to get clips, wallpapers, news and stuff like that. What about a South Park game for the iPhone? And don’t get me wrong it’s not the iPhone fan talking here but the South Park fan!

Vodafone is a big name around the world. When you say Vodafone you immediately think about the mobile carrier company and you expect it to be serious and professional right?
Well then here’s what stunt Voda managed to pull in relation with it’s upcoming BlackBerry Storm. Vodafone displayed a BlackBerry running on Mac OS X. Of better said, the “Storm” pages showed a jailbroken iPhone. How do you like what you see in the pictures?
What say you Vodafone? How many people have lost their jobs over this minor incident?

Is Apple taking over the mobile market in the USA? We’ve just seen yesterday how Apple has already managed to manufacture and ship 10 million handsets this year and by the end of 2008 the company should surpass it’s goal. And today we find out that the iPhone has reached the second place in US mobile sales.

According to analysts Apple has managed to reach their 10 million sold iPhones for 2008 three months before the actual end of the year. It looks like Apple has sold from 7 to 7.5 million iPhones in Q4 of the fiscal year (Q3 of 2008). That’s from 2 to 3 million more than it was previously estimated by specialists.
How do they count all those sold iPhones? Well that’s actually pretty simple. Simply track the IMEI. The IMEI is the International Mobile Equipment Identity number composed by an unique 15 digit code. The IMEI is placed on the back of the box of the iPhone. From the 15 digits there are two 6-digit sequences which are very important. One of them, the TAC or Type Allocation Code shows a particular build or set of manufactured iPhones. The other 6 digit number is unique to each iPhones. Which means every TAC has a maximum of one million iPhones attached to it.
Therefore it wasn’t that difficult for the Mac Observer guys to track the IMEI and count the 3G iPhones sold. By September Apple had about 8 million 3G iPhones manufactured. The last IMEI number was 9,190,680 and it matches an 8GB iPhone manufactured on September 29 and sold yesterday. However that doesn’t mean that all those 10 million iPhones out there have been sold to date. But they are likely to sell in the next three months. We’ll see in a couple of months exactly how many iPhones Apple has soldz worldwide in 2008.
So AT&T, maybe it’s time to roll out that BlackBerry Bold already. It feels like you have sold enough iPhones already!

I don’t know what’s happening with Apple, but the iPhone creator has just approved a VoIP application for the handset. Fring is available from the iTunes store for free now and you can use it for free, unlimited calls. Sure you’re going to pay for your data but I’d install it for all those times when a free WiFi spot is accessible. Better get it now too since you’ll never know when Apple changes its mind about the whole VoIP thing.
Here’s what Fring says:
Tags: 3g iphone, App Store, Apple, Apple, Mobile News, Other Brands, VoIPYou will have one searchable contact list with all your instant messaging buddies from Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM, so you can easily see whose available and where they can be reached before dialing or starting a live chat session.

We have some good news and some bad news for all Americans that plan to get a BlackBerry Bold. The bad news is that AT&T is delaying again the official launch. The good news is that you can get it from Canada, Chile and various countries from Europe.
Mike Lazaridis, who is only RIM’s CEO, said that AT&T is testing the Bold to ensure that it’s sub-par 3G network can support it. And it looks like Apple’s phone is to blame:
There’s great scrutiny, as you might know, on that network and a certain device. So I guess everyone wants to be sure on every last test.
AT&T said the Bold is coming this year. Whatever that means. My guess is that they haven’t even turn the Bold on yet.
