iPhone 3.1OS Jailbreak Available

You have been waiting so long folks for the actual iPhone 3.1 OS jailbreak to arrive and the iPhone Dev Team has delivered. Your iPhone 3GS is ready to be freed. All you need to do is get the Pwnage Tool 3.1.3 but only if the phone was jailbroken when running iPhone OS 3.0 or 3.0.1. That shouldn’t be a problem, should it?

Of course, we don’t recommend in any way that you jailbreak and/or unlock your iPhone, or any other phone for that matter. It’s solely up to you to take such decision, and before you do, take a personal moment and consider what could happen if you messed up your phone. I bet the manufacturer and your carrier will not be happy to hear about your hacking activities. Those of you that still want to jailbreak, follow the link below at your own expense!

The last we heard of the Facebook version 3.0 iPhone/iPod touch app was towards the beginning of July. Today, it was announced that the update has officially hit the App Store with some intersting features.

What you’ll notice first upon updating the software is that the entire UI has been reworked to allow for easier browsing. Another important update is that it features a built-in browser so you can view links posted by your buddies right in the application without having to open Safari.

We’ve included the full list of updates after the break but the best way to experience the new Facebook app is to get it yourself.

If you have an iPhone, one of the first apps you downloaded was most likely Facebook (if not, have you been living under a rock?). Well, it was recently announced that the app’s latest version, 3.0, has been submitted to the App Store for Apple’s sign of approval.

There’s no telling when exactly the updated version of the app will be made available but included above are 2 screen shots Gizmodo managed to snag before they were pulled. As you can see, even though the version number is still 2.5, the screen shots display content only found in 3.0.

Could this mean the update is to be pushed out today? Let’s hope so.

Skype version 3.0 has just been released for handsets running Windows Mobile and adds 2 highly sought after features.

First of all, Skype version 3.0 will allow users to send pretty much any type of file they please to other Skype users for free, over a WiFi connection of course. Futhermore, version 3.0 adds the ability to send SMS messages to other cellphones also free of charge over a WiFi connection.

Skype really made a splash when it was first released for the iPhone and with this new Windows Mobile version 3.0 it only looks to improve.

It seems that the iPhone DevTeam has gone ahead and announced that they will be delaying the release of an iPhone 3GS jailbreak for a short amount of time.

Their reason being is that the exploit they are currently using to jailbreak the phone is extremely easy for Apple to fix, if/when they find out about it. Futhermore, they have reported some problems with jailbreaking OS 3.0 that they have to work out along with their hunch that OS 3.0.1 is right around the corner.

So, before you freak out know that this delay is only temporary and you should be able to have you iPhone 3GS up and running on (almost) any carrier you want soon enough.

Now of course, Mobilewhack doesn’t condone piracy or anything to do with it so we can’t tell you where to find the leaked version of iPhone OS 3.0 but we can tell you what it’s called.

Thanks to Gizmodo we know that the file itself is called Phone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw and clocks in at 230.1MB.

We also know that to install the leaked firmware you are going to have press either alt on a Mac or shift on a PC in iTunes and then click on the restore button which will let you select the downloaded file.

Remember folks, if you decide to do this make sure you back up all of the files on your phone via a quick sync and do so at your own risk.

It was recently brought to the public that Bluetooth SIG will be making an announcement on April 21st regarding Bluetooth 3.0.

What we know about the spec is that it will be faster than 2.0 by means of WiFi. Apparently, it utilizes technology that allows it to harness the speeds used by 802.11.

So yes, Bluetooth 3.0 will be fast, very fast. Make sure you tune in on April 21st where we will have complete coverage of the announcement.

    Kevin Rose Talks iPhone 3.0

We’ve seen Kevin Rose before able to predict Apple products and features so we should only assume that his take on the iPhone 3.0 is going to be confirmed soon by Apple.

And what Kevin Rose is telling us is that the new iPhone firmware will be able to match the iPhone to the upcoming Pre. We should expect cut and paste in 3.0 among other things but we’re not going to see any support for video or MMS. Is Kevin Rose correct or isn’t he? We’ll find out soon.
