Ever used Skype from your smartphone to talk to your friends almost for free? You end up paying only for the data plans for those long distance calls. What about any other VoIP provider? Have you been using sipgate with T-Mobile operated phones in Germany?

Apparently the whole VoIP thing pisses T-Mobile Germany. Thilo Salmon, CEO of sipgate has received a cease and desist letter for T-Mo Germany’s lawyers. According to it, sipgate is making the jailbreak process more attractive. Well since when do we need a VoIP software provider to give us that idea? We came up with that idea when we bought our first phone with a 2 year plan.

T-Mobile Germany is not cool with more stuff besides jailbreaking and VoIP. Instant messaging, and VPN applications are also forbidden. Does that mean I can’t LOL or XOXO nobody while under T-Mobile coverage in Germany?

What T-Mobile fails to see is that sipgate works over WiFi and not GPRS or EDGE. Wonder how this lawsuit about to happen is going to turn out.
