Systemax buys Circuit City domain name and branding

It was recently announced that Systemax has made haste and snatched up both the Circuit City brand and domain name for a cool $6.5 million.

Apparently Circuit City Incorporated will stay on board and net an unspecified share of sales under the brand name.

Does this all mean that Circuit City will be making a reappearance? Possibly shifting to an online only retailer? Only time will tell.

As the economy recovers, this could prove to be a wise move. Best Buy needs some competition to keep them on their toes.

A combination of selective retail stores plus an online presence could pay off for the new owners of Circuit City.
