Symbian^4 to Beak Compatibility with S60 Apps?By Chris - 08/06/2009 9:34:44 AM |
Symbian^4 is not yet available but we have started seeing it mentioned around the Internet. David Wood, the “Catalyst and Futurist” of the Symbian Foundation said in a recent interview that Symbian S60 will definitely be phased out in the near future. The Avkon API will be replaced by the UI toolkit Qt once Symbian^4 is available. That means that most S60 applications won’t be compatible with the future Symbian OS. In case you’re a developer you should take this into consideration before developing any hot app for Symbian S60. Symbian^4 will arrive later next year so better get ready for the imminent death of Symbian S60. What are your thoughts on that?
