Sprint Selling Towers To Pay Off Debt

By Chris - 07/24/2008 6:07:30 PM

Sprint-Nextel is going to sell a lot of cellphone towers to TowerCo. What’s funny is that after selling about 3300 towers they will actually own a small number of towers. What do I mean a lot? I mean about 3300 towers worth about $670 million. Not that bad considering they seem to desperately need money for paying off debts.

You aren’t going to pay roaming charges, don’t worry! Despite selling towers, Sprint will still rent the same ones to further use. Imagine you are selling your own apartment and then you start paying rent for it. Simple as that.

Sprint still has to figure out a way of paying the full $24 billion that they already own. Rumors started to circulate about a Nextel sale but we don’t have all the details just yet. In the mean time if you are a Sprint subscriber run for your life, get another carrier, talk a little more, send more messages, increase your bill, help them out!
