Spot - Personal GPS Device
The Spot is not the kind of GPS system that you place in your car, instead, it is a personal (and portable) satellite tracking device that is suppose to help out when you most need it, on emergencies.
In place of the normal GSM network that most GPS systems feature, the Spot uses GEOS which is related to the International Emergency Response Center. Why is this good? While using this system and during emergency situations, you only need to make a call and the information about your location will be forwarded to the Response Center.
Besides the cost of the Spot itself, there is a subscription method of 1 year that costs $100, and will let you use the 911 service, and other functions. If you want to spend a bit more, there is another service that costs $50 and lets others track your location via Google Maps.
