Sony to launch slimmer PlayStation 2

|

sony-ps2-new.jpgBesides the recent Sony offer for the Christmas PSP bundle that comes with a Memory Stick plus a game, the Japanese company has decided to upgrade the PlayStation 2 by making it slimmer.

Also known as SCPH-90000, the new Sony gaming system will be pretty similar to the slim PlayStation 2 in terms of design, but it will have smaller components on the inside, therefore making it lighter, and at the same time making it more spacious. With that being said, the slim-slim PS2 will weigh less than 1.6 pounds, which is 720 grams - a considerable improvement.

According to Sony, this new move will make the PlayStation easier to carry if you want to take it to a friends house.

In terms of release dates, the Sony gaming console will first be available in Japan on November 22, and cost approximately $140. Afterwards, the American launch can be set to 2008 and will cost more than $100.
