Skyhook Wireless Technology Used in 1.1.3 Firmware Update for iPhone and iPod Touch

|

logo_skyhook%20wireless.jpgIf you've been hanging around yesterday, you'd have known that Steve Jobs has announced the Apple iPhone 1.1.3 firmware update, which has also been made available for iPod Touch users. One of the new features brought about by the update was the ability to locate yourself using the maps, which is a pretty useful tool if you tend to get lost all the time. Provider of Wireless Positioning System, Skyhook Wireless, released a statement that it's their technology that's used for this feature. Skyhook has built a database of WiFi access points exceeding 23 million in number over the years.
