We heard a rumor a few days ago saying that Microsoft is considering not to launch Project Pink phones anymore. After all, Redmond’s officials have always said that Microsoft will not launch their own mobile phone yet! And now, a week after the whole Sidekick mess started, more rumors have surfaced regarding Project Pink’s imminent termination.
There’s no official statement to back everything up but Project Pink seems doomed especially now. Everyone is well aware that Microsoft’s recently acquired company, Danger, was offering services for T-Mobile’s Sidekick. And it’s Danger who failed to recover the lost data for Sidekick users. At the same time Danger was also involved in the whole Project Pink. The obvious conclusion is that neither the Sidekick nor Project Pink received the required attention from Danger’s team lately. So if Danger can’t handle all that cloud computing that makes the Sidekick such an awesome handset, who’s to say that Danger would be able to actually make a successful Project Pink phone? Maybe everything would be a lot easier if the team would stick to a single big project at a time. Or is it Microsoft’s fault for pushing them two hard?
We’ll be back with more Project Pink news once Microsoft decides what to do with it. In the mean time don’t hold your breath waiting for a Microsoft phone. Chances are slim to none right now!
