While the solar-powered trend hasn’t really caught on here in the States yet, it’s all the rage in Japan. This spurr of interest has lead NTT DoCoMo to announce the Sharp solar-powered SH-08A, pictured above.
This device will apparantly withstand submersion in water up to a meter and will feature a VGA display, an 8MP camera and 7.2Mbps HSDPA. As for the solar capabilities, you’ll reportedly get 1 minute of talk time for every 10 minutes in the sun. Hey, it’s not much but it’s certainly something.
NTT DoCoMo says that the handset will go on sale in Japan sometime this September.
