Sanyo has unveiled the VPC-HD700 digital camcorder, a slim, lightweight high-definition 720p digital movie camera. The VPC-HD700 is the successor of Sanyo's VPC-HD2 and sports a 1280 by 720 resolution. The compact, pocket-fitting HD700 measures just 73.7 x 35 x 109 mm and weighs 189 g and it’s shaped for comfortable one-handed shooting on the run. It’s the ideal movie camera to match your active, on-the-go lifestyle.

Movies are recorded in the high-compression MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format, and the new camera also takes stills at up to 7.1 megapixels. Furthermore, it adds in a 5x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom feature. The HD-700 features a Face Chaser function that detects up to 12 faces during shooting and when still images are played back, Blur Canceller adjusts for hand shaking.
