When I saw the Sanyo SCP 2700, all I could think was, hey look–it’s a Sanyo Blackberry!

And when I got my hands on it, I have to admit, I found a few interesting surprises that left me a bit surprised by the whole thing.  And better, left me a little pleased with the Sanyo SCP 2700.

The Sanyo SCP 2700 is a candy bar style cell phone with a voice recorder, speakerphone, Bluetooth connectivity, a six hundred contact phone book with room for names and numbers, a variety of instant messenger suites, mobile web, mobile email, Java support, voice mail, email, text messages, a 1.3 megapixel camera with a 12x digital zoom, alarm clock, GPS business, calendar, calculator, and a battery that offers an unusual four hours and forty-eight minutes of talk time.

You can see there’s not much going on in this phone.  It’s sort of short on basic features, though this does help in terms of value and ease of use.  But it’s the compatibility with Java that offers the biggest punch in terms of value.  Having the Java compatibility will allow you to download other programs like games and the like, so if you want a little extra note of customization, you can get that.  And there’s no doubt that the zoom is pretty good for a low-end digital camera.

So as you can see, the Sanyo SCP-2700 may look like the Sanyo Blackberry, but there’s still at least a few worthwhile things here with room for expansion.
