If the “i” in its name isn’t a dead giveaway, its feature set and the form factor will definitely make it clear who the Samsung SGH-i900 is competing against. The 3G iPhone isn’t that far way and if Samsung hopes to really put in a good fight, this device better be ready within the next quarter or be labeled another iPhone clone.
The SGH-i900 packs a lot in its 112×56x13mm size, no bigger than Apple’s successful iPhone. The form factor is similar to the iPhone with a huge 3.5-inch touchscreen (multi-touch?) and were it not for the answer and disconnect keys on either side of the navigation key, the prototype would have screamed knockoff. The 3.5-inch LCD has a display resolution of 400×240 pixels. Samsung has thrown in 16GB of onboard storage and also a microSD slot, which might be overkill for some given the amount of storage space already on the device. The phone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 and has GPS, a 5-megapixel camera with a secondary VGA cam for video calling, Bluetooth 2.2 with A2DP support, FM radio, TV-out, and WiFi.
Wow! Now that’s what I would truly call an iPhone killer!
