Samsung cell phones have usually been a source of good quality content, and even when they’re simple and lower-end, they’ll still do a pretty good job of giving me something worthwhile to talk about.  That’s exactly what we’ll get with today’s review target, the Samsung SGH-a107.

The Samsung SGH-a107 is a dual-band flip phone that offers speakerphone, conference call capability, mobile web, text and instant messages, a five hundred entry phone book, calendar, calculator, stopwatch, world clock, a variety of downloadable graphics, and a battery capable of yielding three hours of talk time on a single charge.

There are a lot of missing features on this phone, frankly.  No camera, no Bluetooth, not evil email, which is especially strange.  Make no mistake, this phone pretty much screams “entry level”.  The battery life is short and there are lots of features this phone can’t even conceive of.  There isn’t even much in the way of expansion capability–downloads are limited at best.  But the controls are pretty easy to work with, and the menus simple to navigate.  As entry level phones go, this one isn’t exactly bad, but there’s better out there, even in entry level.

There’s a place for entry level phones–some people don’t need cameras or email or the like built into their phones and just want, you know, a PHONE, and the Samsung SGH-a107 will handle that function nicely.  Just don’t expect a whole lot of utility behind it.
