Samsung S5230

The Samsung S5230 has a 3 inch screen, three physical keys in the front and like Samsung’s other touch screen phones, you have to remove the battery in order to insert the microSD slot. The interface has a resistive touchscreen which means the handset is enabled to be used with a stylus, and not just with the finger. And, where there is a stylus, generally that means handwriting recognition. The handwriting option is not something many users will take to as their main method of data entry, but this option works very well with the occasional incorrect letter being picked up. The S5230 provides two other alternative options for text entry- traditional onscreen 12 key alphanumeric keypad and also a full size QWERTY keyboard. The QWERTY keyboard works in the landscape mode, which the device automatically flips to when this option is selected.

Samsung also makes good use of the large touchscreen by utilizing the now popular TouchWiz user interface which is a nice way to interact with your phone. The handset is equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera with fixed focus, but a smile detection feature included.  For its capabilities, imaging results are acceptable enough, generally good enough to share. A big drawback to this phone is that the only high speed data connection offered on the device is GPRS where a 3G would have been appreciated. Onboard memory on the S5230 is an acceptable 50MB, which can be expanded up to 16GB with Micro SD memory cards. In spite some of this phones oversights, overall it delivers a pleasant touchscreen experience.
