The Samsung Instinct has gone on sale last week and it appears that Sprint have hit a homer with this one. The Instinct is a very good smartphone, with a lot to offer to any customer. Not to mention the great price Sprint is offering. You’ll end up with a $129.99 phone after rebates and signing up for a two year plan.

According to Sprint’s President of Wireless Division John Garcia, the Instinct is going to be their biggest ever EVDO selling handset:

We had high expectations going into the launch so our initial order to Samsung was the largest for any Sprint EVDO handset to date. The strong early response tells us that wireless customers recognize Instinct as a highly-innovative and convenient touch-screen device combined with the fast speeds available on the largest national mobile broadband network. In the first few days of availability, many Instinct devices were purchased by existing customers upgrading their wireless device - we thank our customers for their endorsement of this device, our Simply Everything pricing plan and our company.

Apparently some Sprint locations sold off all their Insticts, with shortages reported in more areas. And apparently Samsung is fully working to produce more handsets as we speak.

Ok, but how many Instincts did Sprint have? Three? Four? This news will have been so much better if Sprint would have announced selling 100k handsets already. I mean I know they’re going for more publicity and I do believe they sold many Instincts. But how many? And what are those regions with reported shortages? How’s your local Sprint store doing?
